But in moments like this, she didn’t want to crush Jotham’s spirits.
So Brianna continued, “But think about it, do you really believe Ramona would just walk away from you? Honestly, I bet there’s no other man. She’s just trying to get a reaction out of you, that’s all.”
After all, Ramona had been ignoring his calls for days, and now, the first time she picks up, Jotham just happens to overhear another man with her?
Ramona couldn’t possibly be that clueless.
Brianna’s words did seem to ease Jotham’s mind a little.
“If it really comes to it, maybe I should just give her what she wants,” he muttered after a long pause. Dark circles shadowed his eyes, and his voice was heavy with exhaustion. “She’s done a lot for the company as my partner. Maybe I owe her something in return.”
Giving her some shares in the company was better than letting her stay away forever. Once Ramona came back, he could finally get to the bottom of who that man was.
“No way. If you give in once, there’ll be a second time, and a third. Don’t you remember what your mother said?” Brianna shot back, her tone fierce.
She might despise Winnie, but when it came to Ramona, Brianna was willing to take her side.
Jotham fell silent.
Brianna crouched down beside him, almost pleading. “Give me a few more days. If I can’t help the company by then, you can give Ramona the shares. But not before.”
As long as she was around, there was no way that woman would get a single thing from the Holt Group, or the Holt family.
Unable to withstand Brianna’s persistent objections, Jotham finally nodded.
He’d wait a little longer. Maybe Ramona would realize her tactics weren’t working and come back on her own terms.
But this time, he was truly angry.
