The Paper Wife’s Empire novel Chapter 83

“Alright, I promise you. Be good.”

Jotham managed to force a faint smile. He didn’t dare tell Brianna that Ramona’s return to the company was already inevitable.

Griffin had delivered his final ultimatum: no matter what it took, Ramona had to come back and clean up the mess at Holt Group.

In order to gather the necessary percent of the shares, Jotham had quietly transferred both his mother’s and Eulalia’s shares to Ramona without either of them knowing. Today was the deadline. After spending time with Brianna, he planned to go find Ramona and have a talk.

But for now, it was just the two of them. Jotham wanted to set aside his worries, at least for a little while. Once Ramona was back and things returned to normal, he’d figure out a way to get her to hand everything back over.

By the time they arrived at the mall, Brianna’s spirits had lifted a great deal. She clung to Jotham’s arm, browsing from handbags to jewelry with him by her side.

In less than an hour, she’d spent over a hundred grand.

Admiring the sparkling diamond bracelet on her wrist, she nestled happily into Jotham’s embrace. “Thank you, Jotham. I feel so much better now. You really went all out for me without even batting an eye at the price.”

“Of course. My money’s all for you anyway.”

As Jotham stroked Brianna’s delicate, pale wrist, his thoughts involuntarily drifted back to when he used to shop with Ramona.

Even though he’d always told Ramona to pick whatever she liked, in all these years, she’d never chosen anything that cost more than a few hundred dollars. The most expensive things she owned were probably the ones she’d saved up for herself.

Ramona could never bring herself to spend his money. She always said the company was still growing, and they needed to save whenever possible, just in case.

“Hey, I really love that brand over there. Let’s go take a look, okay?”

Brianna’s eyes lit up as she spotted a famous jewelry boutique—a royal luxury brand, where even the tiniest piece could cost a fortune.

“Sure.” Jotham nodded. He felt like they’d spent enough for today, but Brianna was still in high spirits, and he didn’t want to spoil the mood.

At that moment, Ramona was already inside the boutique.

She had just picked out a pair of sapphire cufflinks and was paying at the counter. The design was unique—one of a kind. The moment she saw them, she knew they were perfect. The deep, ocean-blue stones perfectly suited Ethan’s refined and enigmatic style. Just imagining him wearing them made her forget to even check the price.

“Ma’am, your purchase is all wrapped up.”

“Thank you.”

Ramona lifted the elegant branded bag and had just gotten up from her seat when she found herself face-to-face with Jotham and Brianna walking in, arms linked. They were less than two feet apart.
