“Princess Serena demanded a public apology from Kaela for what she did to the maid,” Dessyn said, voice low. “I still can’t believe she hit a maid from the Lycan Kingdom. Didn’t she know they’re different?”

I nodded gently.

“I’m eager to see how she apologizes. I bet she’s never been forced to say it before.” I lowered my gaze and sighed, my heart aching. “I’m tired. I want to rest early.”

“I thought you’d be staying with Apex tonight,” Dessyn said softly. I remained silent. I couldn’t sleep at Lycannar’s home. It was difficult enough resisting his kisses in the dining hall. If I dared step into his bedchamber, into his hands, I knew I would forget my resolve instantly.

“You are an Alpha now,” Dessyn teased gently. I glanced at her, catching the sheepish grin. “Gods… I can’t wrap my head around it. Tell me, Great Alpha of Ash Pack. What is your spirit guard like? How did the moon goddess look like? How is everything and everyone at home? Should I start addressing you as Alpha Zephyrine?”

I stare at her for a while before I walked away in silence, heading toward my carriage. She followed, still teasing, until our eyes locked, and the playfulness drained from her face. Concern replaced her grin.

“I’m exhausted. I just want to go home,” I murmured, letting her take my hand protectively and lead me into the carriage. Soon, Blue joined us.

“Zephyr what do you say to Blue finishing up here with Moon? The party has already ended anyway.” Dessyn suggested and I nodded.
