I had seen Zeph’s face when she spoke of the gift Apex had given her. She had held this very necklace with reverence. But now, I had altered it with mine.

“How did Lady Sylvara know the exact necklace Zeph wore, Mother? It’s identical, down to the last detail.” I asked, truly curious, and she only shrugged.

“You think they sit idle at the wolf fortress? No. They are there for reasons like this. To prevent Ill fate from taking its course. Apex with Zeph is wrong. It is evil.
