The Rogue is a Female Alpha novel Chapter 27

Chapter 27

Zephyrine

Finished

The Lycan Kingdom’s gate wasn’t wide open as it had been yesterday. But when I arrived and the guard saw me, he quickly moved aside and bowed slightly.

“Can I see the King?” I asked sharply, unable to keep the anger in me in check. His brow rose.

“Uh pardon

“The Lycan King. Please!”

“Uh yes. Please follow me.”

He led the way down the hall, and as I walked past the others, they all paused to stare. Lycans. Their scent is more refined, more wild.

The guard pushed the door to the throne room and asked me to wait. He left quickly, leaving me standing there in silence.

My eyes lifted to the golden throne ahead. Majestic, deadly. The incident from yesterday flashed through my mind. How he had stabbed and stabbed the rogue Alpha until he died.

Now I understand why. Now I know why Lycannar ended him. It is because he is bloodthirsty. Because he is a maniac.

I should’ve known Lycannar isn’t a man who takes orders. But if he really wants whatever is happening between us to be smooth, he has to learn not to spill blood.

The door opened then, and I turned to see the messenger from last night walking in..

“Ah, it’s you, my lady. Please, come,” he said brightly. I followed him through the same quiet corridor as yesterday, leading to a larger dining room.

Ahead, I saw a spiral staircase disappear from sight, and a small frown pulled at my face. The black tower.

The messenger led me to the doorway then vanished, as he had before. Alone again.

I sighed, waiting. Seconds stretched into minutes. I was growing impatient when I heard footsteps descending.

My breath caught when he came into view. Regal in his kingly attire, but without a cloak. His eyebrow rings was in place, and his eyes were green today. His long hair was loose, and I realized he only tied it back tightly when leaving the Kingdom.

I’d come with fury in my chest, ready to confront him, to end whatever he thought we had. But when he appeared, I forgot for a moment why I was even here.

He didn’t make it easier.

He walked up to me like he owned me, grabbed my waist, and lifted me onto the table. His lips brushed mine, full of that same heat and hunger.

“I never expected you’d come asking for me,” he murmured against my lips. My eyelids fluttered shut, losing control… until 1 suddenly pushed him away, panting.

He stared at me, a few steps back. He wasn’t confused by my anger. He was prepared for it. He knows.

“Why did you kill him?” I demanded. He didn’t reply and I went still. “Tell me why you killed an Alpha?!”

“I didn’t,” he finally said. My brow lifted. Then he added, pointing into the shadow, “He did.”

Slowly, I turned to see his bodyguard, an Ominous silent man, just like him, standing still as stone. I hadn’t even known he

was there.

“You mean your bodyguard acted on his own?” I asked, and he went quiet. “Lycannar, you promised not to kill him last night.”

Chapter 27

“I didn’t promise you anything. And why are you angry, anyway? He disrespected you.”

“He didn’t!” I snapped, pulling away from the table. My mind spun fast. I had to stop him before there were more corpses. He didn’t seem to understand right from wrong.

“Why?” he asked and I nearly screamed,

“Is that the only reason you’ve come?” he asked, cutting in as he stepped closer.

“Don’t tell me you made that long journey just to whine about the dead,” he said, his palm cupping my cheek.

Heat flared between my thighs again. He leaned in to kiss me, but I stopped him with a whisper.

He stilled. Frowned in genuine confusion. “What?”

“I woke up with runes on my arm. Like the ones around your neck. They weren’t there before. Not on me, or any other werewolf I’ve ever seer

He stiffened. His eyes dropped to my arm.

“Can I see it?” he asked quietly. But there was something in his voice, an emotion I couldn’t place.

I looked away, letting him bare my shoulder. My breast peeked free slightly from the fabric. His fingers were careful. So close.

I could see the runes on his neck and the soft, matted hair on his chest.

He stared at my arm for a long moment, then looked into my eyes. Something shifted in his gaze.

“It’s my beast.. marking its territory.”

My heart dropped. Did I hear that right?

“We’re not mates,” I said, breath catching. “Why would you do that?”

But he wasn’t listening anymore. His gaze had shifted to my bare skin. My shoulder. The curve of my chest.

He swallowed hard, clearly fighting for control. When his eyes met mine again, they were no longer soft.

They were primal.

You are going to be mine, Zephyrine,” he said, my name falling from his lips for only the second time since I’d met him. I’m going to make you mine. Whether the Moon Goddess or you want it or not,”
