I choose my steps carefully, walking in the direction he had taken, deeper into the Black Tower. For some reason, everything in me screamed to leave the Lycan Kingdom, but I couldn’t bring myself to do that.

I needed to know how he was faring. Was he even okay?

The dark hall stretched before me until I reached the familiar large dining room, the very one where he had once held me on the table, bruising my neck with his kisses.

My gaze drifted to the staircase that curled upward into darkness. His home.

I swallowed hard. I could stay here and wait for him to cool off… or I could go up there to meet him. Silence wrapped around me while I debated. Seconds later, I found myself climbing the stairs.

Step after step, until I emerged at a quiet hallway. Goosebumps prickled my skin. The walls were ancient, different, etched with a history I couldn’t name.

At the end of the corridor, the sound of flowing water beckoned. A door stood slightly ajar, and beyond it stood Chantel, motionless as a statue. He didn’t speak or move when his eyes met mine.

I was used to that by now.

Following the sound of water, I stepped into an open space and froze.

It was the largest bath chamber I had ever seen. With ancient candles around, The walls were lined with strange, ancient markings that made my heart shudder.

They meant something… something far beyond my understanding. Every instinct told me to leave, but my feet refused to

move.

Because before me, Lycannar was bathing in a vast pool. The water reached his chest, but it could not hide the breadth of his shoulders or the dark runes etched across his back and neck. His hair was loose and wet, gleaming in the dim light.

He gave no reaction to my presence, only sinking lower into the water until he disappeared.

And somehow… that called to me.

Heart pounding, I moved to the edge of the pool and knelt. When I dipped my hand into the warm water, my palm brushed a cheek and with that, he surfaced again, eyes glowing an eerie green that stole my breath.

This… this is power. Magic.

I forgot how to breathe, lost in his gaze, letting myself be ruined and manipulated all at once.

“Lycan…” I breathed his name, helpless. “Lycannar…

He silenced me with a touch, his thumb brushing my lips, smearing the blood he’d drawn earlier. His gaze lowered in frustration.

“I can’t be gentle,” he said, voice tight. “I don’t know how to be.”

My heart ached at the rawness in his tone.

“But I’m fine,” I whispered.

“No, you’re not,” he replied softly. “You’re forged, but that doesn’t mean you don’t deserve to be handled gently by a man. I can’t give you that. Every time I kiss you… every time I want you…. I go primal. And I don’t want to hurt you.”

Silence pressed between us. I searched his eyes.

9:31 PM P p .

“Maybe I don’t need three days to know what or who I want. Maybe it’s the obsessive king I’d choose over an Alpha who cheated on me first.”

That was the last thing I said before his hand cupped my cheek again, not to kiss me this time, but to whisper an order.

“Strip.”

Cold washed over me at the command, my breath shaking. For the first time, I would stand naked before a man.

Not even Varyn had seen me this way since I came of age. Nyroth had never bothered to look at me twice. But this king…

Straightening, I reached for my dress, pulling it over my head without hesitation. This was it. what I wanted. One by one, the pins fell, the fabric pooling at my feet, my undergarments following.

Shoes discarded, I stood before him, bathed in the steady, unblinking stare of a man who saw everything.

He didn’t speak.

Instead, he extended his hand. I took it, letting him guide me into the water. His gaze stayed locked to mine before trailing down to my lips, my throat, the curve of my breasts half–hidden by the water.

His eyes worshipped me.

His hands touched my neck, his lips brushing mine with tenderness until he snapped, turning primal in an instant. I gasped as he spun me around, pinning me against the smooth stone of the pool wall, heart hammering.

I had chosen this man and the monster I would have to survive.
