The Sleeper's Wrath and His Wife's Strike novel Chapter 112

Yves' eyes never left Lindsay, so much so that Cheryl wasn’t sure he’d even heard a word of her advice.

“We’ve been sitting here forever. It’s weird just lingering without ordering. Let’s just pick a couple of dishes—even if you won’t eat much,” Cheryl said, flagging down the waiter and ordering two house specialties.

Yves sat there like a statue, unmoving, his gaze fixed on Lindsay as if watching her could anchor her in place. He looked as though he could go without food or drink, subsisting on tension alone.

He was terrified that if he so much as blinked, she’d run off with another man.

Meanwhile, Cheryl was making the most of her meal, savoring every bite. Watching Yves, lovesick and miserable, she silently congratulated herself on being born with the kind of luck that doomed her to be single. Better to eat alone than to suffer for love, she thought philosophically.

“Check, please! They’re leaving,” Yves said, his voice tight with urgency. When he turned, he caught Cheryl wiping greasy lips with the back of her hand, her plate nearly licked clean. He glowered. “Have some dignity. You’re Ms. Green, after all.”

Cheryl let out a sheepish laugh, dabbed her mouth with a napkin, and hurried off to pay the bill.

Outside the restaurant, Lindsay and Fitch parted ways.

“I told you, they’re just friends. Had dinner, went home separately,” Cheryl said with a shrug. “Men love to jump to conclusions.”

Yves was quiet for a moment before asking, “Should we go to Pine Residences now?”

“You sure she’s headed there? What if she went back to Quigley Manor instead?”

“She’d go by herself?”

“Of course she would!”

Cheryl couldn’t resist twisting the knife, “Maybe she’s going home to pack her bags.”

“You’re messing with me?” Yves shot her a glare, clearly not amused.

“Relax. I’ll text her and find out where she is. Then you can deliver your grand apology.”

Yves gave the slightest of nods.

They got in the car and waited about ten minutes before Cheryl finally called Lindsay.
