The Undead and Unstoppable Apocalyptic Queen novel Chapter 593

Chapter 593 Flames on the Rails

Relax, I grabbed everything edible,Quentin said.

Theresa’s expression softened with satisfactionuntil her eyes fell on two vending machines by the curb.

There are two drink machines right there!she exclaimed.

Quentin could only stare in silence.

In a flash, Theresa sprinted over, yanked one loose, and hauled the entire machine away.

Not a single bottle of drinkable soda was going to be left behind.

Quentin was speechless again, but his chest filled with pride. That was his leaderfearless, relentless, and absolutely brilliant.

Theresa quickly stashed both vending machines. Just then, a handful of scattered zombies on the second floor stirred and lurched toward them, but she picked up her pace and charged into

the station.

She didn’t bother with the second floor anymore.

There wasn’t much worth taking up there anyway.

Most of it had been fastfood joints.

Back before the world collapsed, the meals there were outrageously overpriced and ridiculously smalllike they were serving gold on a tray. But four years into the apocalypse, even the best leftovers had long since rotted.

It simply wasn’t worth the detour.

If this had been right after the outbreak, Theresa would never have left it behind. She would have carried off every scrapdown to the last packet of noodles.

With Quentin close on her heels, she made it safely into the main platform.

Quentin slammed the station doors shut and locked them tight.

Dozens of zombies rushed up but were trapped behind the doors, while Theresa quickly cleared out the stragglers scattered inside the platform.

This wasn’t the place to be reckless.

Chapter 593 Flames on the Rais

She had a long stretch ahead of her, and every zombie she put down here meant fewer chasing

them later.

Calculating how long the glass doors could hold, she finished off the last one and grabbed Quentin’s arm, dragging him into a full sprint.

Behind them, the trapped horde regrouped, hammering their fists against the glass with bone- rattling force, their guttural cries echoing through the station.

The glass quivered, on the edge of shatteringthen, suddenly, the pounding stopped.

Theresa had already run far enough that they couldn’t sense her anymore.

The zombies at the door tilted their heads, twitching as they sniffed the air like broken machines.

The scent that drove them wild was gone.

One by one, they fell silent, dispersing aimlessly into the vast, empty station, their low growls trailing off as they wandered in confusion.

Theresa knew zombies better than most.

Two lifetimes of fighting them had taught her everythingif she wasn’t the best, she was close.

As long as she didn’t have dead weight in her team, she could always get them out with minimal losses.

Now that she understood what their enemies were after, she was even more determined: she would capture Professor K in the safest way possible.

And she would do it without showing too much of her true strength.

As she pressed forward, her thoughts racing, a derailed train came into view.

The long stretch of railway was blocked by a passenger train that had toppled on its side, sprawled across the tracks.

Some zombies were trapped inside the cars.

But far more of them prowled outside, circling the wreckage.

The instant they sensed living prey approaching, their bulging crimson eyes widened, glowing with hunger.

Just then, the sharp blare of a car horn echoed down the tracks.

Whoosh. Whoosh. Whoosh.

Flaming arrows streaked through the air in rapid succession, raining into the horde.

A wall of fire ripped across the mob, carving out a burning line of separation.

Finished

Theresa’s gaze snapped to the hillside beyond the tracks, where a group of men and women leaned out of the sunroof of a modified offroad vehicle. They drew their bows wide, loosing arrow after arrow as the car barreled forward.

The flames came from one of thema young woman in a black leather jacket with long dreadlocks whipping in the wind. She ignited each arrow as it was launched.

Their makeshift weapons were sharpened shafts tipped with oilsoaked bundles.
