With that thought, Erin relaxed instantly, happily diving into prep for the comic launch event.
The author, ViaLittle, treated this promotion like it was a really big deal. She was famously private and almost never showed up in public–but this time, she surprised everyone by agreeing to do a livestream, and with Erin, no less.
Erin could already see herself blowing up after the event.
That confidence carried her as she stepped into the spotlight, calmly taking in all the praise and admiration coming her way.
When she finally met ViaLittle in person, Erin hooked her arm through the author’s as if they were longtime buddies. Behind the scenes, she secretly used the system to boost her charm, making herself come off warmer and more approachable.
“I can’t believe you’re actually ViaLittle! Back at Ms. Nicholls’s birthday party, why didn’t say anything?” Erin teased with a playful smile, acting like they’d been close forever.
Sylvia–ViaLittle–also smiled, but if anyone looked closely, they would see the edge of sarcasm in her expression.
Erin never noticed. She kept talking cheerfully on camera, answering questions like it was nothing.

When Sylvia asked, “How long did it take you to design the characters for Cloudfall Tavern?”
Erin stayed calm and confident, not a hint of guilt showing. “Not long at all. I was already a fan of Cloudfall Tavern, so when I saw the job posting, I thought I’d give it a shot. I didn’t think I’d get picked.”
Sylvia’s lips curved slightly. “So, you’re saying you only started working on these designs after the comic artist position opened up, and before that, you had no ideas?”
The question caught Erin off guard. It felt strange that Sylvia would press her on this, especially in front of a live audience.
But with the cameras rolling, Erin had no choice but to smile and nod.
Sylvia let out a sharp laugh at Erin’s answer. “Well, that’s funny. You claim you only started designing these characters recently–so how come I saw them years ago?”
Erin froze. “W–what?”

Sylvia slipped her arm out of Erin’s grasp and pointed at the big screen behind them for
everyone to see.
There, a series of chat logs popped up–conversations between Sylvia and a friend about the character designs for Cloudfall Tavern.
The drafts her friend had sent looked almost identical to Erin’s work, except the timestamps were from years ago.
Sylvia’s eyes were cold as she stared at Erin’s pale face. “These designs were created by my friend and me, revision after revision. Every change was saved and recorded. Ms. Jackman, you’re not about to claim you were that friend, are you?”
As the author of Cloudfall Tavern, Sylvia had studied Erin’s drawings long before this event and tested her more than once. She knew for sure Erin wasn’t her friend.
That left only one answer–Erin had stolen the work.
Those drawings weren’t just art. They were a symbol of her friendship, something Sylvia cherished. She wouldn’t let anyone trample on it.
She was set on exposing this fraud in front of everyone while also finally tracking down the friend she’d lost touch with for so long.
The shocking twist instantly blew up online. Hashtags rocketed to the top of the trending list.
Tracy, who had been watching the livestream closely, was stunned.
She never knew ViaLittle’s true identity was Sylvia, and she hadn’t expected her to call Erin out openly at such a big moment.
But Tracy understood–Sylvia was doing this partly for her, to defend their bond.
And though Tracy wasn’t ready to reveal herself until the academy mess was over, she wasn’t going to waste Sylvia’s effort.
She immediately had people flood the internet with comments. [No way. Erin’s the same genius artist Ms. Nicholls once praised as T. She’d never plagiarize. This has to be a mistake.]
With the System backing her and a huge fanbase on her side, Erin’s defenders quickly filled the comment sections.
Sylvia, however, didn’t budge. She gave a dismissive snort. “Talent and character aren’t the same thing. My aunt might’ve praised her skills, but she never once approved of her as a
person.”
