Chapter 121
KADE
I watched Belladonna as she slept peacefully, her lips parted slightly, her hair spread.

Her hair… My eyes were always going there. I think I was attracted to how black it was, and how soft. Last night, when she fell asleep with me still knotted in her, I found my hand waving into her hair and feeling its
soft strands.
I did it. I knotted in her, and I didn’t lose control. I fucking did it. There was no tear, she barely felt any pain.
I haven’t done that for years. I haven’t felt a woman’s heat wrapped around me in so long. Anytime I found myself close to doing that, I always remembered that dreadful night years ago and I ended up not going through with it.
My eyes trailed over Belladonna’s frame. She was covered with the blanket but I could still see her neck and I saw my teeth mark there.
I left my mark on her fair skin…
There was no going back now.
Belladonna shifted, her eyes slowly opening. She blinked at the ceiling for a while before she turned to me, her eyes meeting mine.
“Already regretting what you did?” she asked, her voice soft.
“Good morning, and no.”
She raised an eyebrow. “No? You definitely have the look.”
I stood up, walking to the table and pouring out a glass of water. I walked to her, handing it over. She took it from me as she sat up, looking at me as she drank every last drop.
“You’re being weird,” she said when she was done.
I sat beside her, trying to give her space while not being too distant. “In what way?”
She shrugged, shifting back until she could rest her back on the headboard. “I don’t know. But for one, you’re wearing your emotions on your face.”
I said nothing, just looked at her. She looked away, looking down at herself, a slight blush on her face. “You cleaned me.”
“It was the least I could do.”
She stayed silent, just looking down. She wasn’t acting like herself.
Or… maybe she finally had what she wanted and that was it. I honestly don’t mind. I could still maintain my

distance that way and wouldn’t get attached.
“So… uhm.” She finally looked at me. “Can I ask my questions now?”
It was my turn to look away. “I–Fuck.” I sighed, running my hand through my hair.

Fuck, what was I going to say? “I’m a werewolf and last night, I was masturbating with your scent driving me crazy, and that triggered my rut. Oh, and my rut ended in one day which has never happened before.”
I couldn’t put it that way ‘cause it sounded insane and weird. I was thinking of a better way to say it when Belladonna said, “It’s okay.”
I looked at her with my eyes wide. “What?”
“It’s okay,” she repeated. “I can see you’re wrecking your brain trying to come up with something. If you don’t feel comfortable, I won’t press.”
I could only stare at her. How was she so calm? Even last night, she had handled everything well.
“Thank you,” I said softly.
She looked away from me, her jaw clenched. “Don’t thank me.”
She crawled out of the bed, the blanket dropping, and her naked body coming into view. It seems it wasn’t just her neck I felt a mark. There were marks on her thighs too.
She was about to get on her feet but then her legs gave out. She was about to fall, but I shot forward, catching her, my arms around her waist.
“Shit,” she cursed. “My legs feel like jelly.”
“Are you hurt?” I asked, my eyes wide. “Are you feeling any pain?”
She shook her head. “No. I just feel sore. You can let go now.”
I released her slowly and when she didn’t fall, I stepped back.
“Take the day off,” I said as I watched her walk to the door.
“I can’t,” she answered, walking back and taking the blanket, wrapping it around her, and still not meeting my eyes. “A future CEO doesn’t take days off.”
“A future CEO should know when to rest.”
“This one doesn’t,” was her answer before she left my room.
I sighed, pressing my fingers to my temple.
Women were complicated.

Chapter 121
That day at work passed like every other day. The only difference was that Kross and Axel called.
“How’s the latest married man doing?” Axel teased.
I sighed and they took that as their answer.
“Rough, I see,” Kross said, the clicking of his keyboard the only background noise.

I told them what happened last night, and the silence on their end was long and heavy. Even Kross’s typing stopped.
Axel was the first to break the silence. “Whoa.”
“You didn’t take the suppressant?” Kross asked.
“I couldn’t get to it on time. And she found me that way.”
“Then why didn’t you tell her to get it for you?”
Now I felt like I was being interrogated. I couldn’t answer that so I just kept quiet, but they wouldn’t be my brothers if they didn’t figure it out.
“Oho!” Axel exclaimed, chuckling and getting on my damn nerves. “Oh, Kade.”
“Shut the fuck up,” I ground out.
“I said nothing.”
“You don’t need to.”
“Kade.” I straightened reflexively at the tune in Kross’s voice.
I cleared my throat. “Kross.”
“You sure you know what you’re doing?” he asked.
“Honestly? I don’t know, man.”
“Come on, Kross,” Axel said. “What’s your deal? Isn’t she his wife?”
“I never said she wasn’t. But he has more to lose than she does.”
We fell silent after that,
“I’ll deal with my shit,” I said before I ended the call, resting my head on the headrest, looking up at the ceiling, tapping my finger on the armrest.
Once again, I’ve been reminded of the circumstances surrounding this marriage. It wasn’t a sweet thing to remember.

I loosened my tie as I took the stairs up to my room, desperate to shower and wash the day’s stress off me.
Just as I was going up, Belladonna was coming down. We both paused, our eyes meeting and holding.
“I see you’re still coming back late,” she said, a little note of displeasure in her voice.
Seeing Belladonna like this, with her mask off, and her teeth and claws out was refreshing, because then it feels like I’m finally meeting the real Belladonna. And the real deal wasn’t all smiles and giggles. No, she was much darker.
I raised an eyebrow. “Was that supposed to change overnight?”
Her jaw tightened. She looked away from me, walking down and brushing past me, her scent filling my nose.
I turned back to watch her go, but then she paused, turning back to me, her eyes hard as she said, “Tell me you don’t regret it.”
