Chapter 803 She’s Sleeping, Deal With It
Victor didn’t answer Dale’s question; he acted as though talking to a fool wasn’t worth his time. That silence alone was enough to drive Dale to the brink of madness.
“Mr. Victor!”
His tone hardened.
Victor turned to him with a mocking glance, his lips curling as he spat out two words, dripping with sarcasm-“Tessa?”
The way he said her name–so casual, so indulgent–made it sound almost affectionate.
Anyone who didn’t know better might have thought Dale adored that daughter of his.
But everyone who did know the truth understood–Dale was a cold–blooded snake.
Cold enough to disown his own child.
Before Dale could respond, Victor went on with another cutting remark. “If I recall correctly, when you first saw her photo, you didn’t even recognize her.”
Dale’s face flushed with humiliation at Victor’s tone. Who would’ve thought…
When Trevor had shown him that photo, he truly hadn’t recognized Tessa.
“Didn’t even recognize your own daughter. Imagine that–what kind of father does that? Truly fascinating.”
Victor bit into that last word with sharp derision. Dale’s face darkened again.
He tried to defend himself. “I hadn’t seen her all these years; I didn’t even know she existed.”
“Didn’t know she existed?”
The words were so absurd that Victor let out a laugh.
Dale’s complexion turned a sickly green. In truth, he had known… Diana had left in such a rush back then that traces of her pregnancy test were left behind. He knew there’d been a child.
But whether Diana had gone through with the pregnancy–or whether it had been a boy or girl -that, he hadn’t known.
Just as the two men were about to speak again, Lewis came in carrying Tessa’s breakfast. Dale opened his mouth, but before he could say a word, Victor stood, took the tray straight from

Lewis, and went back inside–without leaving a single word behind.

He’d just left him there? Dale hadn’t even finished what he came to say! He turned a displeased look on Lewis.
“Mr. Dale,” Lewis said politely, “perhaps you should head back for now?”
That only made Dale’s face darken further. He hadn’t said what he came to say, and they were already telling him to go?
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
“My brother probably won’t be coming out anytime soon. When the missus is asleep, she has to be coaxed into eating. She’s hard to please; takes at least an hour to manage it.”
The implication behind those words was clear enough–it spoke volumes about how much Victor doted on Tessa.
He doted on her enough to spend an hour just coaxing her to eat.
If she held that kind of place in his heart, then whatever Victor did with her must have been with her full consent.
Dale had heard plenty about Victor’s reputation. The man was not known for wasting time on
women.
Lewis went on, “And after he’s done getting her to eat, she’ll probably still be cranky. My brother’ll need to stay and coax her back to sleep. At this rate, he’s not coming out for at least another two hours.”
Dale’s face grew even darker.
Two more hours? He’d already spent the whole morning waiting; he was seeing spots from frustration.
“When will Tessa be getting up, then?”
Without Victor present, even the way Dale said her name dripped with annoyance.
Lewis rolled his eyes. “Not before two in the afternoon. She won’t wake up before that!”
Besides, wasn’t Victor in there coaxing her to eat right now? As long as she wasn’t hungry, he’d let her sleep as long as she liked.
To Lewis, it was clear–Victor truly doted on her.
In the old days, any of them who dared sleep in around Victor would’ve been dragged out of
