Dean Li felt relieved when he heard things were not too bad.
He was very happy.
The previous evening had been a critical time, and although he had heard that the surgery was quite successful, he was still somewhat anxious inside. After all, if a fever or some other reaction occurred during the night, that would be disastrous.
Fortunately, the night had passed safely.
He looked at his grandson with a loving gaze. Before Rong Yan had left the previous night, he had asked her specifically about his grandson’s condition, and she assured him that if he took good care of himself, he would be able to get married and have children without any problems.
His eyes had reddened when he heard this.
"Dad, do you think we should properly thank Mr. Rong for her help? Should we give her some..." Money?
That was what Li Shu meant... they should give more money.
After all, Rong Yan was not a doctor in their hospital, and it wouldn’t be right to expect her to work so hard without compensation. Moreover, giving money would make them feel more settled.
"We’ll talk about this later," Dean Li had his own considerations; it wasn’t urgent at the moment.
He also intended to inquire about how to give the remuneration.
When it came to money, he had some, and his son-in-law also had a bit of money.
Li Shu listened to her father.
Therefore, she dropped the subject for the time being.
Dean Li glanced at the time, feeling that people were likely to arrive soon, so he wasn’t in a hurry to leave.
After all, he had cleared his schedule for this hour specifically to wait for Rong Yan’s visit.
Before long, Doctor Zhang and Dr. Zheng also arrived, knowing that Rong Yan was going to be there; they wanted to be part of the check-up as well.
Rong Yan arrived at two o’clock on the dot, her face flush with warmth.
Seeing both doctors and Dean Li in the ward, she wasn’t surprised.
"Sorry for being late," she said, knowing that if they were all there...
She couldn’t have arrived earlier.
It was just too hot.
"You’re not late," Dean Li said, noticing her red face. "Overheated, right? Why don’t you rest for a bit, go to the office to wash your face and cool down?"
"I’ll go to the restroom first and wash my hands," she said, though she should have gone to the office first.
Indeed, the heat made it easy for one’s mind to cloud and diminish intelligence.
Dean Li nodded. "All right, go ahead!"
Rong Yan then left.
There was a restroom at the end of the corridor, where she went in and washed her face.
When she returned to the ward, two more nurses had joined the room.
"Shall we start the examination?" Dean Li asked.
Rong Yan nodded. "Yes."
She approached the bed and looked down at Shi Zhen’s complexion.
"Your color doesn’t look bad. Don’t talk, I’ll take your pulse first."
Her fingers rested on his pulse, and everyone present held their breath.
After about a minute, Rong Yan switched to his other hand.
After completing the pulse reading, she then looked at Doctor Zhang, "Have the patient’s reports come out today?"
"They’re out, all here; take a look," Doctor Zhang handed over the reports he had been holding.
Though Rong Yan flipped through them quickly, she didn’t miss a single character.
After finishing, she said, "He’s very stable at the moment. He’ll still be in pain for today and tomorrow, so we’ll add painkillers to the IV. Also, I have a medicine here that’s beneficial for his current recovery."
She didn’t hand the medicine directly to the patient’s family but gave it to Doctor Zhang, as he was in charge of Shi Zhen.
