Trapped in the boss's embrace (by Katrina A) novel Chapter 103

Chapter 103 The Spirits Can Rein in the Evildoers

Jane would go to any lengths for Madeline, even if it meant exploring the most bizarre paths.

She went so far as to consult a freaking wizard...

It was downright insane.

Violet had realized Jane's superstitions could lead her to uncover something significant, so she had come here.

Everything started to make sense.

To facilitate communication, the four of them gathered around the table.

Beatrice scribbled on a piece of paper: [From the girl's tone, Violet should be safe for now, but her reactions are strange. I can't figure her out.]

Damian replied: [First, we find her and ensure her safety.]

Beatrice nodded eagerly.

It made sense to wait and see what happened when Jane arrived before making any moves.

Still, anxiety gnawed at her; she couldn't afford to be complacent.

She needed to know Violet was truly safe—her heart wouldn't rest easy until then.

Scarlett remained silent, her expression thoughtful.

Damian wrote another note and passed it to Ethan: [Go find her.]

Ethan took the pen and wrote back, his handwriting a bit messy: [Leave it to me, Mr. Crowley! I'll definitely bring Ms. Hudson back for you!]

He finished with a self-satisfied smirk.

However, Damian and Beatrice merely shot each other a look of utter exasperation.

Scarlett narrowed her eyes suspiciously.

Bring Ms. Hudson back for you? For you?

What the heck does that mean?

She gawked at Damian in shock.

You're telling me he's not only hitting on Beatrice but also eyeing Ms. Hudson?

Scarlett was fuming with anger.

Beatrice just got hurt, and now she's gonna be stabbed in the back by some new guy and her own bestie?

Out of sheer frustration, she snatched the pen out of Ethan's hand and scribbled like crazy: [What's Ms. Hudson got to do with Mr. Crowley? Spill it!]

Ethan, stunned by Scarlett's sudden outburst and wild accusations, just shrugged, thoroughly confused.

On the other hand, Damian started rubbing his temples in irritation.

He grabbed the notepad, ripped out the page, and jotted down another note for Ethan in a hurry: [Just scram! And keep your mouth shut!]

As Ethan got to his feet, he mumbled to himself, "What did I write that was so off?

"Isn't he asking me to bring her back?"

Ethan's self-doubt was creeping back in.

Once he left, an unusual tension filled the room.

About a minute of silence passed before Damian broke it.

"He grew up in Astraea, and he only learned the local language in recent years."

Scarlett squinted. "Oh, really? Sounds like a slip-up to me." Her skepticism was evident.

Beatrice quickly interjected, "It's definitely a misunderstanding."

Scarlett shot her a look, her gaze saying, "Don't be naive. Men love to have their cake and eat it too."

Beatrice sighed, a wave of helplessness washing over her.

Before long, Ethan returned, plopping down at the table and scribbling another note.

Damian glanced at it and quickly grasped the situation.

Beatrice and Scarlett stared at the paper, their brows furrowing in confusion.

What on earth does this say?

The note read, in uneven handwriting: [She's with Ms. Celestine, and it seems like she's trying to bump against her.]

Scarlett's doubts about Ethan's background melted away.

Beatrice finally got why Ethan had said his name didn't count when he introduced himself—it was because he didn't even know it!

Damian grabbed the pen and wrote for them: [Ms. Hudson is with Ms. Celestine. She's probably decked out like her.]

Ethan bobbed his head like crazy.

Beatrice and Scarlett gave each other a look like they'd seen a ghost.

They'd figured Violet was gonna have some big, showy face-off with Zara.

Ethan scribbled another note: [No photos here; we can head to the last door.]

Beatrice and Scarlett were left scratching their heads.

Damian heaved a sigh and then cleared it up and translated: [There are no surveillance cameras. We can go to the room where Ms. Celestine's working, next door.]

Ethan nodded eagerly again.

Then he quickly sketched the exact location on the paper.

To be honest, his drawing was much better than his handwriting—clear and easy to understand.

Damian then told Ethan and Scarlett to hang back while he and Beatrice snuck out of the room.

Scarlett just shrugged and said she didn't care one way or the other.

Over on her left, they caught sight of a familiar figure.

Even though her face was hidden behind a white veil, there was no doubt about it—Violet was here too.

She's really come to learn this witchy stuff.

Ethan's got really good eyesight!

Look at how Violet is dressed up.

It's not easy to recognize her.

But Ethan, he just caught a glimpse of her on the surveillance and he knew it was her right away.

Just then, another person walked into the room.

It was the same girl as before, and this time she was with a well-dressed middle-aged woman—Jane.

Jane tiptoed up to the front mat, looking all respectful and meek.

"Ms. Celestine, I've done everything you told me. Can you do something about my daughter's situation?"

Zara grunted, responding, "I'll put in another word for you."

Then she started mumbling those magic words, her body all twitchy and shaky as she did. Beatrice rolled her eyes.

Madeline faking those seizures—could she have gotten the idea from this?

Meanwhile, Violet kept up the act of writing, scribbling away like crazy, though it was anyone's guess what she was actually putting down on paper.

At last, Zara stopped her wild shaking and suddenly flew into a rage.

She swiped the incense burner in front of her to the floor.

"I've told you again and again, no secrets! Your daughter is involved in something huge, and you didn't tell me! When the gods get angry, I'll die..."

With that, she spat out a mouthful of blood.

Several wooden plaques on the wall clattered down to the floor.

Violet, Zara's sidekick, started hurling the papers she'd been writing at Jane.

Each sheet was covered in spooky red "Die", floating menacingly right in front of her.

Jane screamed in terror, clutching her head and shouting, "You're dead! Stay away from me! Stay away from my daughter! Don't come after my daughter..."

The louder she wailed, the faster Violet scribbled, even flinging incense ash at Jane's head and face.

Beatrice felt a rush of excitement, but then, a thought crossed her mind.

What did she mean by "You're dead"?

She's still alive and well...

Damian smirked, a blend of mockery and cold-blooded amusement.

"As expected, evil-doers need ghosts to torment them."
