Trapped in The Boss’s Embrace

Violet barely had time to open the door before Desmond pushed past her and rushed inside.
“Beatrice…”
With that, he charged into the living room where he found her sitting on the couch.
The exhaustion in her eyes and the way they instantly turned ice–cold when she saw him made his throat tighten.
“I had no idea about what happened this morning,” he said, his voice rough.
Beatrice’s face remained completely blank. “And? What exactly did you come here for?”
Desmond sat down beside her.
Beatrice immediately got up and moved to the opposite couch.
Desmond was left speechless. He didn’t follow her but simply said, “Tomorrow I’ll personally release a statement explaining everything about today’s situation.”
“Explain everything?” Beatrice asked. “How exactly are you

going to explain it? By denying the lies your mother made up? Or by admitting you’re sleeping with Madeline?”
Desmond had no words.
All he wanted to say was that he and Madeline weren’t engaged and didn’t have any relationship whatsoever. Beatrice was his legal wife, and that photo of her at a hotel with another man was a complete fabrication.
Beatrice seemed to read his mind. “Your explanation will just confuse everyone and make you look sketchy. People will come up with even more theories about what’s really going on. You’re still the same, Desmond–brave enough to do it, but too chicken
to own it.”
Desmond leaned forward. “If we just get back together, all those rumors and speculation will die down naturally over time.”
Beatrice let out a cold, harsh laugh. “Ha! You cheating on me with Madeline isn’t a rumor. The lies your mother’s been. spreading about me? Those are the real rumors. Either tell the whole truth or just shut up.”
Desmond was backed into a corner with nothing to say.
People always took the path of least resistance, and there was no way he was going to admit his affair in public.
Violet had been standing nearby, listening to the whole thing.
She casually jumped in. “So, Desmond, from what you’re saying,

you’re basically admitting that all those accusations Autumn made against Beatie this morning were totally made up?”

Desmond shot her a look. His dark, narrow eyes were gloomy.
He seemed to know something but didn’t want to reveal it. Instead, he just nodded with a resigned smile. “Yeah, that’s right.”
“Your mother almost went to jail because of Madeline’s setup, and now she’s suddenly taking her side? Don’t you think that’s super weird? Could the Fairfax family be pulling the strings here? Or to be more specific, could Madeline be behind it all?”
“Maybe. Anything’s possible. I don’t know.”
“You’re saying that’s the most likely scenario, right?”
“Yeah.”
“Your mistress Madeline got mobbed online after that airport video hit Twitter a few days ago. She was bitter about it and wanted to clear her name, so she found your mother, Autumn.”
“Whether through threats or bribes, they cooked up some nasty rumors about Beatrice. Your mom issued a statement to kill two birds with one stone–whitewash Madeline’s reputation while dragging Beatrice through the mud. Is that right?”
“Yes…”
Desmond let out a deep sigh.

When he saw Violet about to emifine, he held up his hand. “Ms. Hudson, I think you’ve reallellanmythevidencelby now. Should be plenty for whatever youneet.”
Violet’s face dropped.
Turned out, he knew all along..
As the CEO of Summit Group, Desmond wasn’tisone dudless moron. She’d been desperate to fish for a confession, and heal caught on.
What she hadn’t expected was that he’d willingly take the bait.. To her relief, Desmond finally did the right thing for once..
Beatrice gave Desmond a complicated look.
“Let’s just end this,” she said.
“If we don’t end this, Madeline will never let go. Today, she’s getting your mom to join her smear campaign. What about tomorrow? And the day after? You’re not killing me directly, but I’m dying because of you. Tell me. What’s the difference?
“Whether you genuinely regret what you did or still love me, it doesn’t matter. We can never go back to how things were. What’s the point of the three of us staying tangled up in this
mess?
“Once we’re divorced, she’ll have no reason to keep coming after me. Whatever happens between you two after that has nothing
Chapter 65 Walking Right Into a Trap to do with me. Think about it.”
Her words came out completely emotionless.
This time, Desmond didn’t fight back like he usually did.l.
It was like watching a terminal illness run its course..

Once he accepted there was no cure, all those intense feelingss of anger, resentment, regret, and bitterness slowly settled and eventually disappeared altogether.
Desmond sat at Violet’s place for hours. When he finally left, He didnttactually say whether he agreed with their plan or still amussediit.

Desmond’s unexquentellcoporation left the two women, who’d been ready to dioptficiilonibilell, completely thrown off.

Beatrice sat there deep in thought and then suddenly looked up
at the darkening sky outside the window. “I’m starving. Let’s grab dinner first.”
Violet couldn’t help but roll her eyes. This girl seriously never missed a meal, no matter what drama was going down.
Violet let out a sigh and smiled. “Fine, dinner first.”
At 10 PM that night, on the Summit Group’s official website, right under the post Autumn had made that morning, a pinned reply quietly appeared.
It was from Beatrice herself.
She also posted a video response, facing the accusations head–on.
Just like that, the news went viral on the internet.
Users went wild sharing it everywhere, eager to watch this messy rich–people drama unfold like it was the season finale of their favorite show.
In the video, Beatrice appeared elegant and poised.
Her voice flowed softly as she calmly recounted her love story with Desmond–how they fell in love, how they overcame countless obstacles to get married, and how Madeline eventually became the other woman.

She laid it all out like she was telling an epic tale.
She didn’t rush to counter Autumn’s smear campaign.
Her approach wasn’t aggressive, but she packed in a ton of information.

They met each other in their senior year of high school. Without directly addressing whether the childhood engagement was real or not, Beatrice made her point–what 18–year–old boy would ignore girls his own age to pursue a literal elementary school kid?
The “obstacles” they overcame before marriage clearly referred to Autumn’s harsh treatment and disapproval.
When mentioning the timeline of the affair, she casually dropped that business dealings with the Fairfax family were what first connected their families, implying there had never been any relationship between them before.
So, it was impossible that Madeline was engaged to Desmond since they were kids.
Only after telling their story did she pull out the receipts, methodically dismantling each of Autumn’s claims.
She had everything: text messages, recordings, photos, and the whole truth.
Following that, she revealed the complete details of the massive settlement payment.

It turned out Autumn knew about liensosaluating, and when Beatrice wanted a divorce, both sides lindagree to the terms without objection. It was never about Beatricenfusing to divorce or demanding money.
As for Autumn’s claim about Beatrice hooking upwithsomeguy at a hotel, Autumn had cleverly deleted the secondlalffafftlie hallway security footage, but Beatrice managed to gettthewillen of her leaving through the main entrance..
The two only stayed in the same room for a few minutes. It wass not even enough time to get undressed, let alone do anything else.
The final bombshell was Desmond’s own admission that his
mother’s accusations were complete bullsh*t.
Despite everything Beatrice shared, she still left Desmond with a shred of dignity. She never released that disgusting audio recording or those messy bedroom photos.
All sorts of social media went after the statement like crazy at the same time.
Beatrice had done what she needed to do. She returned to her apartment, packed a few clothes, and drove out of Cloudia at eleven that night.
What she didn’t notice were the two cars following her at a safe. distance the entire way.
