Trash Husband, I'm the Top novel Chapter 111

Mr. Hogan Chambers’s expression was unreadable. “You made quite the scene.”

Aurora immediately apologized, thinking she’d disturbed him.

She still remembered his words from before—how he’d told her to leave Fairvale for three years. Now she added quietly, “Once the divorce papers are signed, I’ll go.”

But Mr. Hogan Chambers shook his head, his tone cold and cutting. “Aurora, you haven’t done well enough.”

Aurora fell silent. She knew exactly what the old man meant.

“This is your punishment.”

He cast a glance at the person lying in the hospital bed. Though her face was obscured, it was clear she was barely clinging to life.

Aurora’s foggy mind snapped into sharp focus. Her eyes went wide as understanding dawned. “It was you?”

No wonder, she realized. Even with strict security, Jordan had managed to bring people in.

“Why?” Aurora took a step back, pressing herself against the bed, instinctively shielding her grandmother.

Mr. Hogan Chambers’s aged face was a mask of authority and disdain. “This is the price of disobedience.”

He had warned her to leave Fairvale—stay away for three years.

But not only had she stayed, she’d grown even closer to Daniel.

And Daniel, for her sake, had turned down Monica from the Cooper family.

Aurora tried again, her voice trembling with anger. “Once I have the divorce certificate, I’ll leave. If you think I’m being disobedient, punish me, not her! How could you do something like this?”

For a man his age, Mr. Hogan Chambers was chillingly ruthless.

His gaze grew icy. “Do you really think, once the waiting period is over, Dan will go sign those divorce papers?”

Aurora was left speechless.

Everything Daniel had done lately showed he wanted to save their marriage. He wouldn’t file for divorce.

Mr. Hogan Chambers left her with that threat, turning to go.

“Aurora…” came a faint call from the bed.

Tears streaming down her face, Aurora whirled around in surprise. “You’re awake!”

Mr. Hogan Chambers looked over, his face still blank at first, then suddenly stunned—then overjoyed.

Samuel looked refreshed, but the way he stared at Aurora was full of contempt and hatred.

Jordan’s reason for coming was simple: he was here to take Grandma Grace home from the hospital.

Samuel said, “I’m only out of jail because of Grandma. I’ll make sure to be a good grandson and take care of her.”

Aurora could hear the malice dripping from his words.

She stepped forward, spreading her arms protectively in front of the bed. “Grandma isn’t stable enough to be moved. I’m already making arrangements to transfer her to another hospital. She just needs to stay here one more night.”

Jordan shrugged, unconcerned. “She’ll recover better at home, anyway.”

He didn’t even bother pretending he’d get her better care elsewhere.

Aurora knew exactly what they wanted, and it filled her with despair.

But she couldn’t abandon her grandmother now.

“I’ll do whatever you want. Just let her stay here tonight. Tomorrow, I’ll take her to the new hospital for treatment.”

The Quinn family wanted an obedient daughter, after all.
