Trash Husband, I'm the Top novel Chapter 116

“You don’t have to worry. Tomorrow, I’ll go to Aurora and tell her the truth myself. However she decides to punish me—even if she wants me in jail—I’ll accept it. It’s what I deserve.”

“At the press conference, I’ll clear everything up and restore your name. You did nothing wrong. You just loved me too much.”

“I’ve dragged you down enough as it is, and I can’t let you take the fall for me anymore.”

Samuel’s anger dissolved the moment he saw his sister’s tears shining on her cheeks.

He reached out and gently ruffled her hair, his voice softening. “Don’t cry. It’s just a few years abroad. Think of it as an adventure, a chance to grow.”

He was her big brother, after all; he could handle a little more than she could.

Eleanor’s sobs quieted. She lifted her swollen, tear-filled eyes. “No, I don’t want you to go. It should be me.”

Samuel’s heart ached at the sight of her tears.

His eyes reddened too. “It’s my fault. I wasn’t strong enough to protect you, and I let her hurt you again and again.”

“Don’t worry. When I come back, I’ll make sure she’s out of our lives for good.”

Overwhelmed, Eleanor threw her arms around Samuel’s neck. “Samuel…”

One week later.

Grandma Grace had started sleeping most of the time.

Her medication had run out.

The doctor, speaking gently, reminded them that at her age, and after so much emotional turmoil, she needed to recover slowly and carefully.

So Aurora asked Will for Mr. Austin’s address, determined to find him and ask for help.

Four o’clock in the afternoon.

She arrived at Mr. Austin’s house.

Mr. Austin was a renowned physician, famous for his healing hands. People seeking his help came in a steady stream, but his energy was limited—he only saw patients for half a day at the hospital, and spent the rest of his time in seclusion.

Aurora was stopped outside by the butler.

No appointment, no entry.

Left with no choice, Aurora decided to try her luck at the hospital the next day.

“Aurora.” A slightly surprised voice called out.

She turned to see Daniel, with Monica clutching his arm.

So he’d agreed to the engagement already?

Of course he had. His wife should be someone from a suitable family, after all.

Perfect.

Yet the bitterness rising in her chest made it hard to keep her emotions in check.

“Congratulations,” she rasped.

Monica looked pleased with herself. She warned Aurora to keep her distance from Daniel, then hurried after him.

Daniel, clearly annoyed, asked what she’d said to Aurora.

Monica had no intention of admitting she’d threatened Aurora; she was busy trying to repair her image in Daniel’s eyes.

“Oh, nothing—Ms. Quinn just looked so pitiful, I wanted to help her. But then I thought you might not like it, so I let it go.”

Daniel’s eyes darkened. He knew perfectly well why Aurora was here.

The medication had run out.

But Mr. Austin didn’t see just anyone, and without an appointment, there was no way she’d get in.
