Twins - The Unforeseen Legacy of My Ex's Uncle-in-Law novel Chapter 126

Enoch teased, “And you said you’re my only sweetheart?”

Drusilla cleared her throat, “Did I say that? Can’t seem to recall…”

Lifting his gaze from the book he was reading, Enoch looked at Drusilla, catching the feigned ignorance on her face, and remarked, “I can’t tell you’re quite the actress. Acting all innocent with me but acting like a princess in front of my mom?”

Feeling a bit cornered by his words, Drusilla responded, “I didn’t want to do it, but I was left with no choice.”

“What do you mean by leaving with no choice?” Enoch looked at her, his curiosity piqued.

Drusilla explained, “Your mom asked me to talk you into bringing the kids back. And I, being head over heels for you, acted without thinking through the consequences. I know I was wrong. Can you… please not take it out on my dad?”

Hearing her confess her affection for him made Enoch smirk. He watched her closely and said, “Then who was it that told me this morning she didn’t like me one bit?”

Huh, women!

He knew she was bluffing!

He had actually believed she wasn’t into him!

For some reason, when she said she didn’t like him, it actually bothered Enoch. But now he couldn’t help feeling a bit smug.

Drusilla replied, “I was just too embarrassed, okay? You were so close last night, and it felt awkward. I was scared I might have crossed a line and offended you! You’re such a catch, Enoch, I was afraid I wasn’t good enough for you, so… I didn’t even have the courage to admit I liked you.”

To drive her point home, she laid it on thick with the compliments.

Sure enough, flattery seemed to work wonders on this man.

After hearing her out, Enoch’s gaze toward her softened considerably.

He asked, “So why do you dare to admit it now?”
