Drusilla found herself lost for words as she gazed at the man beside her. All she could do was wrap her arms around him, watching him sleep peacefully.
Before this moment, she and Enoch had always kept a certain distance between them. Sure, they had made their union official through marriage, but being this close was entirely new territory for them.
The room was bathed in the quiet light of the afternoon sun streaming through the window, casting a warm glow on the floor.
Drusilla found the brightness somewhat glaring, yet Enoch seemed to be in the most comfortable slumber.
Up close, Enoch seemed even more stunning in her eyes. His skin was flawless, a soft stubble on his face catching the light just so. His eyebrows, his nose, his lips...
Drusilla felt her throat go dry as she looked away, pondering over the fact that all it took for her to end up in this situation was a candid comment she'd made in front of his mother. Was this really her punishment?
It was an unconventional method to punish her, to say the least.
She had to admire Enoch for his big heart. Wasn't he worried at all that she might take advantage of him?
...
"Enoch, Enoch?" After what felt like an eternity, Drusilla couldn't take it anymore. She felt numb all over and softly called out to him, but he didn't stir.
Gently pushing him aside, she got out of bed and tiptoed out of his room.
Just as she descended the stairs, she overheard Lilith’s voice, "Did Uncle Enoch really father two kids out there? There wasn't even a whisper of it before!"
Blythe responded, "I only found out recently myself. You'd recognize those kids are his the moment you see them. They're the spitting image of Enoch. I wouldn't believe they weren't his if someone told me."
