Twins - The Unforeseen Legacy of My Ex's Uncle-in-Law novel Chapter 75

Harlan tried to keep his cool as Enoch probed, “I mean, how would I know? Maybe she's got a screw loose or something. Thinks I'm an easy target.”

“You? An easy target?” Enoch chuckled. “Doesn’t quite fit the bill. I reckon without me, you’d have gladly seen her six feet under.”

From the get-go, when Harlan wanted to kick Drusilla out. He didn’t give a damn about saving face for her, nor did he care if she could keep her job at the Taylors’.

He wished nothing more than to see Drusilla hit rock bottom, jobless and destitute.

Harlan, growing irritated by Enoch's questioning which nearly blew his cover, quickly deflected, “Uncle Enoch, I’m saying all this for your good. Really, Drusilla is bad news. Who knows when she might snap? You’ll see.”

As he spoke, he unconsciously fidgeted with the hem of his jeans.

Enoch didn’t miss the gesture. With a calm demeanor, he said, “You needn’t worry about me. Go get ready for your reporting at Africana.”

“But…” Harlan was taken aback, “Uncle Enoch, please reconsider. I… I can’t leave Lilith!”

“Out,” Enoch dismissed, as if he hadn’t heard a word.

Harlan wanted to protest, but Oberon approached, firmly stating, “Mr. Stanton, please.”

Seeing Oberon’s authoritative stance, Harlan clenched his fists, defeated, and left. Enoch was a lost cause; Lilith was his next stop.

After leaving Enoch’s room, Drusilla went to see Wendell. Her role in the Taylor household, besides acupuncture sessions for Enoch, was to keep Wendell’s spirits up. So, before heading back, she wanted to check on him.

She found Lilith keeping Wendell company.
