Liliana was waiting outside, tapping her foot impatiently, when Finnian finally emerged. He glanced at her and said, "Let's go."
She nodded, keeping pace with him but fuming inside. Her mind was still reeling from what she'd seen earlier.
When Keith had helped Amara out of the lake, Liliana had caught a glimpse of Amara's face beneath her scarf and was left absolutely stunned.
A twisted jealousy surged through her, slicing her heart into pieces. How could Amara be so beautiful? What happened to her scars? How did they heal?
Amara, the sly fox, had the nerve to keep wearing that scarf, pretending to be mysterious. What was her game?
"How's the plan going?" Hogan texted her.
Thinking about it only made Liliana angrier. The fact that it was her scheme that led Finnian to see Amara's true face made her blood boil. She snapped her phone shut without replying.
Finnian dropped her off at the photo shoot location, silent as ever. Liliana desperately searched his face for any sign of emotion but found none.
Seeing that her cold wasn't too severe, Finnian went off to deal with his own matters, leaving her there.
Back at his office, Finnian didn't immediately dive into work. Instead, he stood by the window, staring out at the cityscape, lost in thought.
Later that evening, as Amara was getting through her second IV drip, Elysia and Dorian came to visit.
Elysia had been with Dorian for years, and when he first learned his friend had married a woman with facial scars, he wasn't exactly thrilled. His attitude had often been a point of contention, leading to many arguments.
Elysia adored Dorian, often bending over backward to accommodate him, except when it came to Amara. She was fiercely protective of her friend and wouldn't stand for any derogatory remarks from Dorian, which had led to quite a few fights.
Now, with Dorian seeing Amara's unscarred face and looking surprised, Elysia finally felt vindicated, her words laced with triumph.
Dorian, realizing he was outmatched, retreated to the couch, choosing silence over further conflict.
Later that night, after dropping Elysia home, Dorian headed over to Finnian's place. As soon as he walked in, he asked, "Did you know what Amara really looked like all along?"
