"Sis, you really need to have a talk with Finnian."
Hogan thought it over and decided it was best not to get involved. Let Liliana and Finnian sort it out themselves; it would give Liliana a chance to handle things with dignity.
Liliana nodded, her expression a mix of guilt and resolve. "I know. I've been wrestling with this guilt for a while. I never wanted to lie like this. Don't worry, I'll talk to Finnian tomorrow and come clean."
Satisfied with her response, Hogan felt relieved and got up to leave.
As the room fell silent, Liliana's eyes darkened with an unsettling intensity.
She had planned everything so carefully, yet Hogan had seen through her secret and now expected her to confess to Finnian. If it had been before, it might have been okay, but now that Finnian had feelings for Amara, revealing the truth would ruin any chance she had left.
As she recalled Hogan's demands, a determined glint flickered in her eyes.
The next afternoon, Amara received a call from Lisa, who said there was a big incident in the Everly family.
Hogan had been in a car accident on his way to work that morning. He was rushed to the ICU and, while his life was spared, he remained unconscious, and the doctors couldn't predict when he might wake up.
Mr. Kevin Everly hurried to the hospital, his voice trembling with fear. "Is my grandson going to end up in a coma?"
The doctor shook his head. "It's uncertain right now. If he doesn't wake up within a week, there's a risk he could."
The news sent shockwaves through the Everly family. Peter and Bess had been in the hospital room, crying uncontrollably for hours.
"Alright."
In a dimly lit alley, Liliana slipped into the backseat of a car, her voice low and tense. "He's not dead?"
"No, but he's still unconscious with a risk of becoming comatose," the man in the driver's seat replied, his face partially hidden in the shadows.
Liliana bit her lip, anxiety gnawing at her insides.
"Wasn't it supposed to be a full-force impact? How did he survive? Are your people incompetent?"
"No, it's just that Mr. Hogan Everly was driving a luxury car with excellent crash protection, so his life wasn't in immediate danger."
