Hogan thought it over and decided it was best not to get involved. Let Liliana and Finnian sort it out themselves; it would give Liliana a chance to handle things with dignity.

Liliana nodded, her expression a mix of guilt and resolve. "I know. I've been wrestling with this guilt for a while. I never wanted to lie like this. Don't worry, I'll talk to Finnian tomorrow and come clean."

Satisfied with her response, Hogan felt relieved and got up to leave.

As the room fell silent, Liliana's eyes darkened with an unsettling intensity.
