Under the Veil I Rule novel Chapter 371

Thinking about all this, Finnian arrived at the old manor. He handed his coat to a maid at the door and was just about to head upstairs when Amara stepped out of Mr. Kevin Everly’s room.

She hadn’t expected to run into Finnian here. Instinctively, she glanced his way, then quickly looked ahead and pretended not to notice him, striding forward as if nothing had happened.

But Finnian called out to her. “Amara.”

She stopped in her tracks.

It was already late when she’d left the set tonight. She hadn’t planned to come to the Everly estate, but then she saw the text Lisa had sent her half an hour earlier: Mr. Kevin Everly hadn’t had much of an appetite, barely touched his dinner, and had even gotten sick afterwards. So, on second thought, she’d made her way over.

By the time she arrived, Mr. Everly was already resting. She’d quietly peeked in through the door, checked with Lisa about his condition, and only felt at ease when she learned the family doctor had already been by and there was nothing serious. She was on her way out when she unexpectedly ran into Finnian.

Ever since that incident a few days ago—after Liliana’s attempted suicide, when Finnian had told Amara he’d be staying by Liliana’s side from now on—Amara had felt like she and Finnian had nothing more to do with each other. She pretended not to see him and turned to leave.

But Finnian called her name, and she stopped. “Is something wrong with Mr. Everly?” she asked.

“Leave us,” Finnian said, addressing the maids nearby. They quietly filed out of the room.

Finnian walked over to Amara. “What’s going on between you and Keith?” he asked.

Amara frowned. “Why are you asking me that?”
