Alden shook his head, waving the bottle. “Married? To who? Just drink with me. If you won’t, get out of the way-find someone else who will.”

His friends exchanged helpless glances. Left with no choice, one of them called Luna. “Hey Luna, come pick up Alden. He’s really drunk.”

Luna arrived at the club in no time, brows furrowed in

frustration. “What the hell, you guys! How much did you let him drink?!”

“Hey, don’t blame us,” one of them protested. “It was all him. He insisted on drinking.”

They didn’t want to be blamed.

Luna bit back another scolding. There was no point. She slipped an arm around Alden to help him up, grateful the driver was waiting outside.

Still, with him this drunk, would he even be able to get up in time for the ceremony tomorrow?

In the car, Alden slumped onto her shoulder, murmuring in a low, hoarse voice, “Kaia… you are so cruel.”

Luna froze. “What did you say?”

Alden didn’t lift his head. “Kaia… You’re really okay with this? Just stand by and watch me marry someone else?”

felt like all the blood in Luna’s body turned to ice.

The next day, Kimberly strutted into Kaia’s office.

Kaia didn’t even stand up from her chair. She glanced over coldly. “What are you doing here?”

Kimberly pulled out the wedding invitation and dropped it on the desk. “Here. Luna’s being generous. She wanted me to bring you this.”

Kaia didn’t take it.

“What, scared to come?”

Kaia let out a sharp laugh and snatched the invitation from her hand. “Scared? Of what? Saturday, right? I’ll be there.”

Kimberly grinned, satisfied. “Good. We’ll see you at the wedding, then.”

There were only two days left until the big day.

The night before Alden’s wedding, his friends threw him a bachelor party.

To them, Alden had finally won the girl of his dreams.

But instead, he sat there, downing glass after glass of whiskey, silent and brooding.

One of his friends said, “Alden, cut it out. You’re getting married 5morrow.”

“You’re saying you ran into Kaia today?” Kimberly asked as she rushed into the room. She came as soon as she got Luna’s call.

Luna let out a cold laugh. “Not just ran into her. She was buying a pair of matching rings. Looks like your sister’s getting married.”

Kimberly scoffed, “Married? No way. That old man wouldn’t marry her. And I haven’t heard a word about a wedding.”

Something like that wouldn’t have stayed quiet this long.

“Then why was she buying rings?”

Was she really trying to win over that old man by giving him a ring?

Kimberly linked her arm through Luna’s and gave a comforting smile. “Forget her. You’re about to become the most beautiful bride in the world. Why even let her get to you?”

She paused, an idea flickering in her eyes. “Hey, since I’m going to be your bridesmaid, why don’t you invite Kaia too? Nothing stings worse than watching the guy you couldn’t have marry someone else.”

Luna’s eyes lit up, and she smiled slowly, “You’re right. Kimberly, I’ll leave it to you. Be a dear and pass her the invite for me.”

Kimberly smirked. “Leave it to me.”

in crimson, swollen and irresistible.

When he finally pulled back, both of them were breathing heavily.

“That ring,” he asked, voice husky. “Was it for me?”

Kaia’s chest rose and fell. “Yes. A thank-you gift.”

Lucien chuckled.

A thank-you gift? God, this little minx.

Lucien pressed his forehead gently to hers. “Kaia, I love it.”

“But… picking out rings?” he added, voice rough and low, “That’s a man’s job.”

Then, without waiting, he dropped to one knee and slipped the silver band onto her ring finger.

“My turn,” he murmured. “Put mine on.” ́

Kaia’s cheeks were burning hot, still dazed from the kiss.

Her fingers trembled as she picked up his ring, sliding it onto his hand, slow and unsteady.

“It’s on. You can go now.”

But Lucien’s eyes darkened. That soft pout, tinged with color, completely unraveled his restraint.

Lucien lowered his gaze, eyes locked on hers, burning with intensity. His voice dropped, low and deliberate. “What am I doing?”

He leaned in, closing the distance with effortless dominance. His warm breath, tinged with a trace of alcohol, brushed the sensitive skin just behind her ear.

But despite the teasing tone, his gaze was nothing but soft.

“Kiss you.”

And he did.

A deep, possessive kiss that swallowed every sound she tried to

make.

Their first kiss had been sudden-back when Lucien was drugged. It had taken her off guard.

The second, a brief brush of lips at the ceremony platform, more formality than passion.

But this one ignited the entire room.

Gone was the hesitation. He expertly parted her lips and deepened the kiss, his tongue exploring with practiced ease.

Lucien’s eyes fluttered shut as he lost himself in her. Ling 14:10

The faint scent of wine on his breath slipped between her lips and into her senses. Kaia felt herself melt, her mind hazy, thoughts scattering like dust in the wind.

His fingers caressed her flushed cheek, lips brushing hers like she was made of porcelain. He kissed her like she was something precious. Something fragile.

It took everything in him to rein in the storm inside. Finally, he released her.

His hand brushed over her hair. “Your ring will be ready in a week. Didn’t think you’d beat me to it.”

He paused at the door. “Good night. Sleep well.”

Kaia lay back down, dazed, finally putting the pieces together.

So that kiss… all of that… was because of the ring?

She groaned in frustration.

If she had known, she might’ve chosen a different gift.

But she didn’t hate kissing him.

Shaking her head, Kaia pulled the blanket over her and slipped into dreams.

Elsewhere, Luna sat in a room at the club, her eyes still burning 347
