Word of Calvin’s breakup had barely spread, but all the guys already knew.
“Lucien, you’re coming to Prosperity Hotel tonight.”
Lucien didn’t want to go. He was a married man now. Who wanted to hang around with a bunch of single guys anymore?
He was just about to turn Calvin down when he heard, “No excuses! Lucien, you’re the core of our group. If you don’t show up, it means you’re not treating me like a real friend!”
Lucien let out a breath and half-smiled. Was it really that
serious?
“Alright, fine. I’ll swing by later.”
“Good!” Calvin added quickly. “And no girlfriends allowed. Just the boys tonight!”
Lucien replied with a faint smirk, “Got it.”
And the very next second, he was calling his girl.
Kaia saw his name light up on the screen. She ducked into the restroom to take the call. “Hello?”
“You at the office?” Lucien’s voice came through, smooth and

“Yeah, just got here.”

“I’ll pick you up after work. There’s a dinner with my friends tonight.”
Kaia hesitated, not thrilled about the idea. “I don’t really know your friends…”
“You’ve met all of them. Ever since we registered the marriage, Calvin’s been wanting to see you in person.”
That was all he said, and Kaia didn’t argue further.
“Alright. I’ll see you tonight.”

Alden, with gauze still wrapped around his head, had been dragged out by a few of his party friends to Prosperity Hotel.
“Alden, you’re a married man now. Where’s your wife? You didn’t bring her?”
They used to call Luna “princess”, but ever since the wedding, they became a little more respectful.
“She’s here,” Alden said with a shake of his head. “She just stepped out to touch up her makeup.”

“Come on, she’s gorgeous as is,” one of the guys chimed in. “No need for makeup when you’re that beautiful.”
There was a time when compliments like that would’ve made Alden feel proud.
But now, even he wasn’t sure how he felt about Luna anymore.
After the wedding, their first night as husband and wife… they slept in separate rooms.
“Alright, enough with the flattery.”
Just as the words left his mouth, Luna walked into the room, her arm linked with Kimberly’s.
The guys greeted Luna one by one, politely but casually.
When it came to Kimberly, they barely nodded.
The Domont family didn’t carry enough weight to earn more
than that.
Even if Tobias himself showed up, they’d probably just nod. So what chance did his daughter have?
Kimberly’s eyes flickered. She tried not to let her feelings show.
“Alden, when are you taking Luna on your honeymoon?” one of

them asked suddenly.
And just like that, the whole group joined in.

“Yeah, Alden! When’s the big trip? Need us to help plan it for you?”
Luna’s heart clenched. It had been two or three days since the wedding, but she and Alden hadn’t had a single moment alone.
They hadn’t even shared a moment of real intimacy.
Luna had imagined that if their first night together happened during a romantic getaway, she would be happy about it.
But in the very next breath, her heart sank.
“Not now. I’m swamped, and Luna’s busy too. We’ll plan the honeymoon later.”
Kimberly had been about to back Luna up, but Alden’s words hit like a slap.
She tilted her head slightly. Anyone who knew Luna well would’ve noticed-her expression had turned icy.
Kimberly scoffed inwardly.
So Luna’s not as important to him as I think.

She decided to stoke the tension, her voice all honey and sunshine. “A honeymoon’s important! You can’t just push it off!”
“Enough, Kimberly,” Luna snapped. She’d had it. The embarrassment was too much to bear.
Forcing a brittle smile, she said, “Kimberly, come with me to the restroom, will you?”
Without waiting for an answer, she grabbed Kimberly’s arm and pulled her out of the private room.
The men inside exchanged awkward glances.
“Uh… Alden? Think she’s mad?”
Alden pressed his lips into a thin line. If she was, so be it.
She threw tantrums so often, that he was used to it by now.
Out in the hallway, Luna dropped Kimberly’s arm with a snap. “Were you mocking me just now?”
Kimberly’s eyes widened in shock. She rushed to explain. “What? No! Why would I ever? I wasn’t mocking you at all, Luna. You’re my best friend.”
Luna watched her carefully, her expression unreadable. If Kimberly was going to keep pretending, she’d have to do a much better job of it.

If Luna didn’t need Kimberly to help deal with Kaia, she wouldn’t even bother being friends with someone this dense.
“When we go back in, don’t bring up the honeymoon again. Alden and I already talked about it in private. We’ll go when our schedules line up. And besides, I know Alden loves me. Every day with him feels like a honeymoon already.”
Kimberly nearly burst out laughing.
Luna really doesn’t know when to quit.
But she kept a sweet face and offered a soft apology. “Okay, okay, it was my fault. I’m sorry, Luna. Don’t be mad at me.”
As they stood in the hallway talking, a flash of blue caught Kimberly’s eye.
“Luna, look over there. Isn’t that…”
Luna glanced up, and then her entire face turned to ice.
Kaia knew she was about to meet Lucien’s friends, and she didn’t want to embarrass him.
So she’d chosen a tasteful velvet blue dress that flattered her figure and made her skin glow.
She hadn’t done much to her face–just a touch of lipstick-but it

Right as she was about to go in, she felt a dull cramp low in her belly. It hit her then-she might be starting her period. She asked Lucien to head in first while she ducked into the restroom.
As soon as she sat down to check her clothes, she heard the unmistakable sound of the door locking from the outside.
Her brows knitted. Something wasn’t right.
