Chapter 159 I Miss You

Although Ophelia wasn’t too keen on Jude being part of the gathering, she considered that Alden was willing to dine with them because of her.

“Sure thing. Mr. Alden Graves, please hold on a sec. I’ll go make the arrangements right away. Alfly Entertainment is one of our major clients. It’s only right that we treat you well!”

Ophelia couldn’t wait to report the news to Alex. Since Miles was on a business trip, Alex was the one she had to turn to.

When his assistant informed him about the dinner, Jude’s lips curled into a contemptuous smirk.

I don’t want to spend my evening drinking with that bastard.

On the surface, he remained calm. “Yeah, got it.”

Inside, he was secretly relieved that he’d told Kaia to go straight home after court today. Otherwise, she’d have to suffer through

this nonsense.

Jude scanned the office and looked at Warren. “Warren, Kaia’s not here today. You’ve handled Alfly Entertainment’s legal matters before. Come with me to the dinner tonight.”

Warren didn’t suspect a thing. “Okay!”

So, as Alden showed up at the dinner, full of confidence in his little plan, his hopes were dashed the moment he saw Warren trailing behind Jude.

He forced a smile and asked, “Mr. Halston, isn’t Ms. Domont coming?”

Jude hated Alden’s fake act the most. “Oh, Kaia said she’s going home to celebrate an anniversary with her husband. She can’t

make it.”

Everyone present was surprised. “What? Kaia’s married?”

“Yeah, she was too shy to tell us. But her husband treats her well. They’re lovey-dovey.”

Alden felt a sharp pain in his stomach. He grabbed his glass and downed it in one gulp.

Jude gave a sly smile. “Mr. Alden Graves, you’re in high spirits today. I’ll have a drink with you too!”

He was determined to get Alden drunk.

Jude plopped down next to Alden, pushing Ophelia to the side.

Jude and Alex took turns to toast Alden. With his mind preoccupied, Alden kept knocking back the drinks.

Before long, he was so drunk that he couldn’t even find the way

to the restroom.

It was Jude who half-carried him there.

Alden slurred, “Kaia, you’re so heartless.”

At his words, Jude’s face darkened.

This scumbag failed Kaia, and now he was playing the victim?

Jude dragged him to the sink. “Mr. Alden Graves, you’re drunk. Let me sober you up.”

With that, he pushed Alden’s head under the faucet. The cold water hit Alden’s face, making him shiver.

“Mr. Graves, let the water run over you. It’ll make you feel

better.”

Alden struggled free and shook his head.

A bit of clarity returned to his eyes. “Mr. Halston, what are

you…”

“Sorry, Mr. Alden Graves. You were moaning in pain, so I thought cold water on your face would help.”

Alden looked down at his soaking-wet self, his face, hair, and

clothes all dripping.

He looked like a mess.

“Fine! I’m not blaming you,” Alden waved his hand. “Just tell them I’m leaving.”

Staggering, Alden headed towards the door.

Jude watched his back and sneered. It’d be great if he took a

tumble.

Leaning against the door, Alden felt a bit more sober in the evening breeze.

He put a cigarette between his lips, borrowed a phone from the valet, and dialed a familiar number.

Lucien gazed at the woman asleep on the desk. With a helpless sigh, he ruffled her hair gently.

He carefully picked her up and carried her to the master bedroom. Her soft hair fanned out on the bedsheet, and her slightly parted red lips were incredibly alluring.

Lucien swallowed hard and averted his eyes.

If he kept looking, he wasn’t sure he could hold back.

Just then, the phone started buzzing. Lucien frowned in

annoyance.

He turned his head and saw the phone lying beside her laptop.

Lucien picked it up and saw an unfamiliar number. Out of instinct, he hung up.

But the caller was persistent and called again.

Lucien thought for a couple of seconds. Glancing at Kaia on the bed who was almost woken up, he walked to the door with the phone and answered it.

Before Lucien could even say “Hello”, a familiar voice came from the other end.

Alden was on the verge of tears. The thought of Kaia getting married to Lucien felt like a heavy rock on his chest, making it hard to breathe.

Drunk with courage, he’d dialed the number. Without waiting for her to speak, he said in a pleading tone, “Kaia… it’s Alden. God, I miss you. I can’t stop thinking about you. I’m losing my mind here.”
