Jude was well aware that Kaia and Luna didn’t get along.

“Kaia, stay away from her later, got it? Watch your words and actions. This is a live broadcast–we don’t want anyone catching you slipping up.”
Jude would be wearing a microphone, while Kaia, though she’d appear on camera occasionally, didn’t need one. She was more of a behind–the–scenes presence, and her screen time would be limited.
Once the director clapped the slate and the cameras started rolling, Kaia focused on reviewing the intern profiles.
There were quite a few this time–ten in total, and two of them happened to be her alumni.
With four mentors assigned to ten interns, it was inevitable that some mentors would be paired with three.
Just from the résumés alone, the 24–year–old Harvard Law graduate stood out. Young, well–rounded, and impressive–he was clearly a top contender.
But the other nine were no slouches either. Nearly all had overseas study experience and exceptional academic records.
Kaia had never studied abroad herself. She’d completed her

postgraduate work domestically–a small regret she’d carried with her.
Still, she didn’t feel inferior. Kaia had always believed that academic credentials didn’t fully equate to real–world ability.
She was genuinely looking forward to seeing what surprises these interns might bring.
In the observation room, Oliver Hayes–who’d been an intern on the previous season–remarked with a friendly smile, “I heard this season’s interns are even more impressive than ours. All ten of them have overseas study experience.”
Luna, always skilled at steering the conversation to herself, leaned forward and asked brightly, “Really? That’s amazing. Mr. Hayes, I’m curious–is it really that hard for law students to go
abroad?”
Oliver, a bit caught off guard, just smiled and shrugged lightly. “Yeah, it’s pretty tough.”
Luna’s eyes flickered. She knew Kaia had never studied abroad.
“I wonder if that female lawyer who looked like a senior earlier had any overseas experience?” she asked, feigning innocent curiosity.
Kayla, unable to stand it, shot back, “Vanguard Law Firm is one of the top five. Just staying here already proves you’re capable.”

Luna smiled thinly. She could tell Kayla was firmly on Kaia’s side and didn’t bother pushing further.
What annoyed her more was that Kayla had somehow managed to stay on the recording roster despite she having taken her spot last time.
Recalling a run–in at a banquet, Luna smirked inwardly. She knew exactly who Kayla’s “patron” was.
Humph. Just a kept woman.
Meanwhile, the chat in the live–stream was also extremely lively.
[Whoa! Luna looks absolutely stunning on camera!]
[Kayla made it onto the show? Let’s gooo! Proud of her!]
[That lawyer in the observation room? Total knockout. I think I’m in love.]
[These gorgeous ladies are chatting about the most random stuff -it’s low–key hilarious.]
[Can we get less of the observation room though? There are so many pretty guests this season, but I’m here for the drama! Show us more of the interns!]
After Kaia finished going through all the profiles, she just waited

for the interns to arrive.

She sat at the front desk and led all ten interns to the large conference room. After the four mentor lawyers entered, she kindly closed the door for them and then went back to her workstation to deal with her work.
Kaia was just a helper in this process. After today’s interviews, the first test would probably be announced, and after that, the mentor–intern pairings would be decided.
She sorted out a legal case analysis. After making sure the document was error–free, she moved on to other tasks.
While Kaia was busy, Lucien seemed to have a lot of free time.
He asked: [Dinner tonight?]
Kaia checked the time. It was not even 10 a.m. and he was already thinking about dinner.
[Can’t. I have to work overtime tonight.]
Lucien continued: [Did Julian make you work overtime? Didn’t they set a rule last time that merger cases can’t take up off–work hours?]
Kaia was speechless.
Did he really think she only had one case to handle?

She had five cases waiting to go to court.
[No, the law firm is doing a live–recorded show today. I’ll probably have to work late.]

Lucien was intrigued. It was the first time he’d heard about it.
[What show? Will you be on camera?]
[It’s “Beckoning Offer: Lawyers Edition“. Our law firm was selected. I’ll only be on camera occasionally to help with some materials. The main stars are my mentor, Mr. Halston, and the interns.]
[Oh.]
Lucien immediately searched on the web and found the live–stream link. He clicked on it, and the screen showed a row
of fresh–faced interns.
The show really ought to give Kaia more screen time–makes it easier for me to keep an eye on her while I’m working.
Lucien texted: [Shoot me a text when you clock out. I’ll swing by to pick you up.]
Kaia replied: [Alright.]
Since marrying Lucien, Kaia had come to realize that beneath

his aloof exterior was a surprisingly affectionate and possessive
man.
As expected, by the time the interviews wrapped up, it was nearly eleven. Kaia stepped in to distribute the first round of assessment materials.
On camera, she was entirely focused on adjusting the projector, her expression calm and professional.
Watching her on screen, Lucien couldn’t help but smile. Somehow, her presence on camera made her beauty even more striking.
But then, a flurry of comments flooded the live–stream: [Damn, isn’t this the wife I’ve been looking for? She’s gorgeous!]
Lucien’s smile vanished instantly.
Wife? Their wife?
His eyes darkened, and without hesitation, he began typing furiously on his phone.
