Alyssa, who had just cracked open her bedroom door, overheard Landon’s bold declaration from downstairs. “Yesterday, Alyssa and I were together, so I came to propose as soon as I could.”

“Sir Graves, our families have always been close, and I think this is a great match,” he continued, his tone earnest. “What do you think of me?”

Lucien’s lips twitched, a silent curse forming in his mind.
