Chapter 250 Changed Preferences
Three days later, Alden finally saw Kaia again.
After a year apart, she had become even more radiant and confident–a self–assurance that emanated from within.
Alden lowered his gaze, suppressing the flickering flame in his
eyes.
Despite his caution, Luna still caught a glimpse of it.
The group exchanged polite nods—nothing more than a cursory greeting.
Kaia refused to spare Alden even a single extra glance.
If not for Allen personally inviting them, she and Lucien wouldn’t have come to Graves Manor at all.

Lucien remained completely unfazed by the awkward atmosphere at the table, calmly serving Kaia food.
Allen raised an eyebrow. “Lucien, I thought you hated seaweed. Since when did your tastes change?”
Lucien casually picked up a strand of seaweed. “I did some
research. Seaweed’s good for the body. Eating more increases the chances of having a daughter.”

The entire table fell silent.
Kaia’s face burned red all the way to her ears.
Seriously, why is he saying this in front of everyone?
Lucien smirked, eyeing her flushed earlobes, “Dad, stop staring at my wife. You’re making her shy.”
Allen mentally rolled his eyes.
We wouldn’t be staring if you weren’t saying things like that.
Alden watched their intimacy, his expression dimming.
Since when did Kaia stop paying attention to me?
Joanne, however, seemed surprised. “Lucien, you don’t want a
son?”
Sons are better–they’re the ones who carry on the family legacy.
Ordinary families might not care, but with our wealth and influence, we do need heirs.
Lucien shrugged. “A child is a child. I’ll love whatever Kaia gives me. I just prefer daughters.” He tilted his head. “Joanne, seems you favor boys?”

Joanne stiffened.

She didn’t want to be labeled as sexist and had no rebuttal.
Allen shot Lucien a look, signaling him to drop it.

“Just enjoy the meal. Have as many kids as you want—we can afford them!”
Luna stabbed her fork into her food, jealousy gnawing at her.
Kaia’s damn luck is infuriating!
What does Lucien even see in her? Why is he so obsessed?
And here I am, looking like a fool.
Her lips twitched as if to speak, but fear of Lucien kept her
silent.
After dinner, the men were called into Allen’s study, finally giving Luna a chance to corner Kaia alone.
“Kaia, you and Lucien are trying for a baby? Any news yet?” Luna asked sweetly.
With Allen gone, Kaia saw no need for pretense.
“None of your damn business.” Kaia rolled her eyes. “Worry about yourself. Piss me off again, and Lucien will exile you

somewhere even more remote–except this time, you won’t come back.”
Luna’s chest tightened. “Kaia, why be so hostile? I know I took the man you loved, but Alden never wanted you.
“Lucien might dote on you now, but a woman’s worth is tied
to her children. Don’t believe his nonsense about wanting a daughter. The moment you give birth to a girl, he’ll find another woman to bear him a son.
“Mark my words–you’ll regret not listening!”
Kaia eyed Luna’s bitter expression, amused.
“Luna, what do you think your value is? Just a breeding tool for
men?
“You have no career, no ambitions–just scheming to please men and treating every woman as your enemy. But men are like quicksand. The tighter you grip, the faster they slip away.”
Most women admire strength, and so do men.
Kaia wasn’t cursing Luna. She simply know Luna and Alden’s marriage was doomed.
Luna trembled with rage. “Kaia, you’re just jealous!”
“Sure, I’m jealous. Keep living in your delusions, then.”

Kaia’s tone sharpened. “But Luna, Tobias got what he deserved. You’re next.”
Luna paled. “What are you going to do to me?”
Kaia walked away without another word, leaving Luna slumped on the couch in panic.
She knows. She knows everything!
She must’ve found out Nic isn’t Alden’s real son!
I can’t just wait for her to destroy me.
I won’t let Kaia ruin the happiness I fought so hard to steal!
