Wedding My Ex's Uncle (Kaia and Alden) novel Chapter 61

Chapter 61 Missing a Mrs. Graves

Lucien locked eyes with her, one brow cocked, cool as ever. “You seriously asking me?”

He let out a low, almost amused scoff, then wiped all expression from his face. “I’m not with anyone. This got something to do with what you’re about to hit me with?”

Kaia clutched the bedsheet so tight that it crumpled, then mumbled, “Yeah… kind of.”

Lucien leaned back, easy and relaxed, flashing a calm smile. His tone softened. “Go ahead. Say it. Whatever it is, I got you. I meant what I said.”

Maybe she was just hearing things, but his voice felt like a quiet nudge forward.

Kaia’s stomach flipped as she met his gaze. “So, uh… you need a girlfriend? Actually, I could really use a fake boyfriend right now. Help me deal with my family. Think you could fake-date me for three months?”

Kaia wasn’t some clueless girl anymore. She’d noticed how Lucien watched her—his attention far beyond what any uncle figure should show.

And she’d just been his nephew’s fiancée. With Alden and Luna

in the picture, she was supposed to steer clear of Lucien. But if he was making a move, she wasn’t about to back down.

Lucien’s eyes were deep and unreadable, like the ocean just before a storm hit. “I don’t need a girlfriend,” he said slowly, “but I am missing a Mrs. Graves.”

A sly grin tugged at his mouth. “What do you say? You wanna fill that spot?”

Kaia’s mind went blank like someone just pulled the plug. Is he hearing himself right now?

“It’s fine. You’re still grieving. No pressure. But once you’re my wife, none of this crap will touch you again. As Mrs. Graves, you’ll have my backing. You can shut down whoever you want, however you want. So, you in or what?”

Kaia was completely frozen, like someone had hit pause on her whole system.

Lucien let out a low chuckle. “What’s the matter? Cat got your tongue?”

She shook her head fast. “No, I’m just… trying to wrap my head around this.”

Who wouldn’t be floored by that?

Kaia wanted his support. Three months seemed like enough time to handle business, but she didn’t expect him to bring up

marriage.

“Sir Graves won’t go for this,” she muttered.

Lucien’s eyes sparkled, a smirk forming. “Whether he’s on board

or not, that’s on me. My wife doesn’t need to worry about a thing.”

The man oozed confidence, almost cocky. That was Lucien— unshakable.

Kaia bit her lip. “I need time to think.”

She looked him in the eye. “Are we talking about a contract marriage here?”

She wasn’t ready, and with her grandma gone, she had a year of mourning ahead.

Lucien’s reply hit her like a curveball. “Kaia,” he said her full name, slow and steady, “I don’t do divorce. That word doesn’t exist in my book.”

Her heart sank. So, a contract marriage was off the table.

“Sorry. I really need to think about this.”

Marriage wasn’t something she took lightly, and she wouldn’t

start now.

Lucien’s smile turned sharp, his gaze steady. “Take your time. I’m not going anywhere. You’ve got all the time you need.”

After finishing her IV, Kaia waved off Lucien’s offer to drive her. He saw she was serious and backed off, realizing marriage was a big deal and not something to rush.

After saying goodbye, Kaia hopped in a cab and headed straight to the auction house. By the time she got there, the place was already shut down.

She flashed her lawyer ID and walked straight to security to request hallway footage. It all went smoothly. With the footage and hospital records in hand, she made her way to the police

station.

“I take anything, but not hits lying down!”

After filing the report, she went back to her place, feeling pretty damn satisfied. That’s when she noticed the bracelet on her

wrist.

Isn’t it the one I tried to buy for my grandma at the auction?

Lucien had outbid her for it, and now he’d put it on her wrist.

Everything he’d done lately felt unreal-too perfect to trust.

Why did he do that?
