Wedding My Ex's Uncle (Kaia and Alden) novel Chapter 73

Chapter 73 Reasonable

Kaia stared at him, eyes cold—like he’d just told the world’s dumbest joke.

“Alden,” she said, voice laced with frost, “what exactly did I do to target her? Before you come picking a fight, maybe get your head screwed on straight.”

Alden’s face flushed, his jaw tightening at her harsh words.

“I know you and Kimberly don’t get along, but wasn’t kicking them out a bit much? They had nowhere else to go!”

He pressed on, trying to justify himself.

“Yeah, maybe Kimberly crossed a line-but she’s the one who spread the rumors, and now Luna’s the one getting scolded for it. Don’t you think… maybe you owe her an apology?”

So it really was Kimberly and Luna.

Kaia’s stomach twisting-not with hurt, but with disgust.

No wonder everything had unraveled the way it had.

She let out a sharp, bitter scoff.

“Apologize?” she repeated, eyes narrowing. “I wouldn’t forgive

them even if they grovel at my feet. And you think I should say sorry?”

Her voice dropped, ice-cold.

“Alden, if you can’t tell right from wrong, then do everyone a favor and zip it. You just sound like a fool.”

She looked at him like he was a stranger.

And to think she’d once loved this man.

Slowly, she shook her head-more at herself than at him.

—I’ll

“Leave me alone. And if you keep showing up to bother me— walk straight into your uncle’s office and let him tear into you. How’s that sound?”

Since they wanted to make her look like the snitch, she might as well play the part to the fullest.

Kaia stalked off, leaving Alden rooted to the spot, utterly flabbergasted.

Did she seriously just threaten to run to Lucien and tell on him?

Who was Lucien, anyway? There was no chance in hell he’d take her side.

This time, Luna and Kimberly had stuck their noses into the company’s affairs and pissed Lucien off.

Did Kaia really think Lucien was in her corner?

Lucien had a girlfriend. Why would he stick his neck out for his nephew’s ex-fiancée?

Alden’s face went from red with rage to pale as a sheet. He climbed back into his car and slammed his fist against the steering wheel.

All he’d done was give her a little ribbing, and she’d come back at him like a hornet.

Why was Kaia so pig-headed? When trouble came knocking, why didn’t she come to him first? Instead, she ran to someone else.

It really got under Alden’s skin.

He didn’t even bother to figure out why he was so riled up. Instead, he just angrily lit a cigarette.

In the car, Kaia suddenly realized that Lucien must have been in the know.

Did he scold Luna for my sake?

Kaia felt that she was increasingly in his debt.

After thinking it over, Kaia finally sent a message: [Thanks for today.]

Lucien stared at the screen, a faint smile tugging at his lips.

[Don’t mention it. Next time, just tell me directly. I’m your boyfriend-and your future husband.]

It was just a simple message.

And yet Kaia felt her cheeks go warm, her whole body flushed with heat.

Husband…

Even just thinking the word made her heart race.

She quickly shook off the thought and, as if suddenly remembering something, typed: [Lucien, can I borrow a few men from you?]

Kimberly was sitting on her big, soft bed, still riding high on her moment of triumph when the bedroom door was suddenly

kicked open.

Her eyes widened in shock, and when she saw who it was, a twinge of panic shot through her.

“Kaia, how dare you just barge into my room!”

A couple of burly guys beside Kaia strode in and grabbed Kimberly by the arms, one on each side.

“You’ve been spreading rumors all over the place and complaining to everyone that I kicked you out. Well, now I’ll show you what it really feels like to be thrown out of the house!”
