Chapter 96 An Uncle–Nephew Showdown
Andy understood immediately. “Understood.”
Julian only dismissed Jude after seeing Lucien return to the office.

Do you know how hard I worked to cover for him, making small
talk with Jude?
Doesn’t this deserve a year–end bonus raise?
Instead of a bonus raise, he received a visit from Zane’s
subordinate.
Ianson, did you need something from me?”
Andy smiled faintly, “No, I just came to ask if you’ll be using the conference room this afternoon. Mr. Zane Graves needs it.”
Graves Group had more than just the 22nd–floor conference room, so Julian found Andy’s question completely unnecessary.
Meeting room schedules were always posted in the group chat by the admin department a day in advance.
Is he blind?
Julian smiled like a fox, “Mr. Graves isn’t using it. You’re free to

use it.”

Andy nodded knowingly. “Good. By the way, Mr. Rhodes, the legal team hired for the new merger case is from Vanguard Law Firm, right? I thought I saw a familiar face earlier.”
Julian paused slightly, “Yes. Is there a problem?”
“You might not know this, but that Ms. Domont is Mr. Alden Graves‘ ex–girlfriend. I thought she was here to see Mr. Zane Graves. As you know, Mr. Alden Graves is about to get married —it’s better to avoid any connections with exes.”
Julian was stunned.
What the hell? Kaia dated Zane’s son?
S Graves is interested in his nephew’s ex–girlfriend?
Seeing Julian’s shocked expression, Andy knew the hint had landed.
Satisfied, he smiled, “Mr. Rhodes, I won’t keep you. Mr. Zane Graves needs me for something, so I’ll head back now.”
While Julian was still processing the revelation, Lucien suddenly appeared in his office.
Now that I know this secret, am I going to be silenced?

Lucien raised an eyebrow. “What’s with the dazed look, Julian?”
“N–Nothing, Mr. Graves! I’m fine!” Julian snapped back to
attention.
“From now on, notify me about all meetings with Vanguard Law Firm, big or small. Understood?”
Julian’s expression was complicated. “Yes, understood.”
Oh, I understand it perfectly!
Are we about to witness an uncle–nephew showdown?
Julian was both terrified and weirdly excited.
Jude spotted Kaia standing beside his car in the parking lot.
He walked over and waved. “Get in!”
Once they were in the car, Jude asked curiously, “What do you think Mr. Graves meant by what he said earlier?”
“Huh? What did he say?”
“You know, when he told us not to work overtime. I’d just told you we might have to, and then he immediately reminded us otherwise. I suspect he’s bugged our office.”

Kaia’s lips twitched as she forced a laugh. “Yeah, it is strange.”
Jude would never guess that I told Lucien, nor that his apprentice could possibly have any connection to Lucien, the most powerful man in the business world.
“Alright, then no overtime. Mr. Graves is really something. I guess they’re not in a hurry with this merger. We’ll try to finish Graves Group’s case within working hours and push other matters back.”
Kaia smiled awkwardly, “Sounds good.”
If Jude knew Lucien’s rule was just so I’d have time to go furniture shopping with him, what would he think?
Over the weekend, Kaia arrived at the furniture store where she’d agreed to meet Lucien‘.
Dressed in casual clothes instead of his usual sharp suit, and with his silver–rimmed glasses, Lucien looked much more approachable.
“Lucien, the furniture store I like is on the fifth floor. Shall we go up?”
Lucien shook his head. “No rush. Let’s browse floor by floor.

Kaia gave him a complicated look. “You want to replace your bed too?”
“Shouldn’t the wedding bed be new?”
The question made Kaia awkward. She twitched her lips. “Fine, let’s take a look.”
He’s paying and putting up the house–if he wants to shop, let him shop all he wants!
The moment the sales assistant saw the distinguished–looking Lucien enter, she eagerly approached.
“Sir, madam, welcome. Are you looking for a bed? What size do །() I? I’d be happy to make some recommendations.”
Lucien didn’t miss a beat. “Get the biggest, softest one— something you’d sink into and never want to leave.”
Kaja blinked, caught off guard. “Huh?”
