“Ms. Claude, I could never compete with you. You grew up with Mr. Shaw, you have years of history, you’re childhood sweethearts. He cherishes you, protects you, and married you.
“I’m just a nobody, one of many women captivated by his charm, his power, and his looks. I shamelessly tried to seduce him even though he rejected me countless times. It’s all my fault. I am disgraceful…”
Coral’s voice broke. Her throat tightened with sobs, her cheeks burning with shame.
She lowered her eyes, bitterness and resentment flashing through them.
She knelt at Anneliese’s feet as if begging forgiveness, but inside, she seethed with hate.
Anneliese must be thrilled, she thought. Zacharias is humiliating me like this to prove his loyalty. She might act righteous, but deep down, she is calculating and manipulative.
Still, she had no choice. She couldn’t risk Zacharias turning against her.
He had forced her to kneel and explain herself. She had to obey, and that only made her jealousy of Anneliese burn hotter.
Anneliese, however, felt nothing but disbelief. The whole scene was absurd.
“Ms. Claude? Call her Mrs. Shaw,” Zacharias said, frowning.
Coral wiped her tears as Anneliese recoiled, yanking her leg free and stepping back.
A gasp echoed in the air.

Anneliese hadn’t even pushed her. Coral lay clutching her stomach, wincing.
“Mr. Shaw… my stomach hurts so bad…”
She reached toward him, but Zacharias remained cold, his eyes fixed on Anneliese.
A vein throbbed at Anneliese’s temple as she glared at him.
“Zacharias, do you really think I’d be impressed by this circus? It takes two to cheat. A decent man doesn’t betray his wife, and a decent woman doesn’t throw herself at a taken man. You’re both disgusting.
“One seduces, the other goes along. You’re a perfect pair. Whatever twisted game you’re playing, I want no part of it. Stop dragging me into your mess.”
She grabbed her bag and moved to leave, but Coral, still on the ground, wrapped herself around Anneliese’s leg again.
“Mrs. Shaw, please forgive Mr. Shaw. I’ll leave, I swear!”
Anneliese felt a slimy weight wrapping around her leg. She looked down.
“Coral, you’re a student at one of the top universities in the nation. Do you know how hard it is to get there? You had a bright future, yet here you are, squabbling over a worthless man. That’s your choice, but don’t make me deal with the consequences of your actions. I do not have coprophagia.”
“Mrs. Shaw! How can you say that about Mr. Shaw?” Coral cried, clawing at her in hysteria.
Anneliese shook her leg instinctively, sending Coral rolling farther across the floor, wailing.
She turned to leave when someone stormed into the room.
“Coral, are you alright? Anneliese, you vile woman!

“Hurting my mom wasn’t enough? Now you’re going after my brother’s child? She’s pregnant!”
It was Lenora, her face twisted in rage as she shoved Anneliese hard.
Anneliese stumbled back, gripping the table edge, nearly falling.
She thought she had just heard a thousand voices whisper in her ear, calling her a cuck.
Pregnant. Coral was pregnant. Perfect.
Zacharias‘ eyes widened in shock. He spun to look at Coral, disbelief in his voice.
“What did you just say?”
He couldn’t use condoms because of his allergy, true, but he had made Coral take birth control. Pregnancy was impossible.
Lenora held Coral as she groaned in pain.
