Anneliese held back her impatience and listened to Gianna’s long speech before finally turning her head toward her.

Her small face looked sharp, her eyes full of anger, and the way she stared at Anneliese felt like a judgment, cold and arrogant.

Anneliese’s eyes turned sharp. She looked at Gianna again and let out another laugh. “You’re so worked up that people would think I stole your man if they didn’t know better. Tell me, do you have the hots for Jonathan too?”

If the one standing in front of her had been India, and if those words had come from her, Anneliese might have felt upset. However, with Gianna stepping in like this, she only thought it was laughable.

Gianna gave a cold snort, her tone both angry and dismissive. “You think everyone’s like you, chasing after men they shouldn’t? India is better than that. She doesn’t even want to waste time on a woman like you. Don’t think our family will just stand by and do nothing, though.”

Anneliese had actually thought pretty well of the Malone family before. She had only met India twice and never really talked to her, but she felt that India was open–minded and straightforward.

It left Anneliese with an alright impression of India.

As for Steven, the spokesperson for the Air Traffic Control Committee, Anneliese had never met him. But since she followed the official account, she sometimes saw his videos at events or interviews. He came across as refined and polite.

And Ellie, the little girl she had met at the Golding family banquet, was lively and cute. She had even helped Anneliese put Selina in her place.

Gianna? She was not likable at all.

Anneliese had not expected Jonathan and India to have that kind of history. For a moment, she felt uneasy, but soon she pulled out her phone. “You’re questioning me like this. Does your cousin know? Or did she tell you to say this? Why don’t I call her right now and ask her myself?”

She wanted to know if Gianna was acting on her own or whether India had told her to do this.

She lowered her head to scroll through her contacts, and Gianna quickly stepped for grabbed her hand to stop her.

Anneliese turned her wrist, put her phone away, and smiled. “Oh, I almost forgot. I don’t even have India’s number. Why are you so nervous?”

She was now sure that India had nothing to do with this. Gianna clearly didn’t even know that Anneliese and India had barely spoken and had never exchanged numbers.

Gianna’s eyes flickered, and she flung Anneliese’s hand away. “My cousin is already in a bad mood. I’m warning you, don’t show off in front of her. Otherwise, I won’t let you off.”

She glared at Anneliese, then pushed past her and walked back to the private room’first.

Anneliese shrugged and followed.

They both entered the private room one after the other. The atmosphere inside had already

eased a lot.

Jonathan was talking with Alexander. When he heard the sound, he looked over. Alexander glanced past Gianna and waved at Anneliese.
