Chapter 426 Interrupted at the Door
At that moment, Zion had caught wind of the conversation. Just now, he must have inadvertently mentioned it to Jonathan….

Anneliese felt somewhat reassured by that notion. She bit her lips and spoke up, “What does it matter if someone was married but never consummated the relationship? Is that meant to be some sort of honor? Why bring it up–unless you’re still thinking about it?”
She thought, Who even talks about things like that anymore?
And honestly, it’s not like we’re living in the past. A woman’s value isn’t dependent on ‘purity‘ these days. She definitely didn’t see it as something worth highlighting.
Jonathan met her fierce gaze and nodded. “I’m not preoccupied with it. When I married you, I was already aware of your previous marriage. Why should that affect me? It’s just…”
“Just what?” she inquired.
“It’s just that I found myself feeling a much stronger jealousy than I anticipated. And… if you’d shared this with me sooner, I wouldn’t have lost control last night.” His hand lightly caressed her flushed cheek, his tone airy yet laced with remorse.
She thought, Jealous?
She blinked in surprise. Is he always jealous of me and Zacharias?
Her heart raced for a brief moment, but she quickly rationalized it.
She thought, Men are possessive by nature, especially when the woman is their wife. In my situation, I am Jonathan’s first.
Naturally, he wanted to be my first as well. It wasn’t particularly shocking.
She noticed the blend of guilt and irritation in his eyes. She recalled the previous night, bit her lip, and murmured, “You really didn’t understand? I was practically pleading, and you still…”
Her accusatory stare colored Jonathan’s handsome face with a rare blush.
For once, his ears even turned pink. He turned his gaze away, cleared his throat, and said, “Apologies. I didn’t realize… without any experience to gauge it by, I—well, I’ll be more mindful next time.”
Jonathan had perceived Anneliese’s reactions from last night: shy, awkward, and completely

But he hadn’t delved deeper into it. After all, Anneliese had always been easily embarrassed in his presence.
Jonathan simply assumed Anneliese was holding back because she couldn’t unwind–never considering it might signify something deeper.
She listened to his hurried apology, then shot him an annoyed look. “Oh, so you’re already thinking about next time? Hmph. Don’t even consider it–there won’t be a next time anytime
soon!”
He didn’t react with anger to her response. Instead, his large hand slipped around her waist and gave it a light squeeze as he whispered, “Are you feeling uncomfortable? Forget it, I’ll check on you myself.”
Before she could respond, he lifted her in his arms and headed toward the bedroom.
What he meant by ‘checking‘ was obvious.
She paused briefly before realizing what he intended to do. Her legs kicked in resistance.
“No! No way! I’m fine!” She hurriedly reiterated her objections in a flurry.
But he continued walking, unaffected. “That mouth of yours isn’t exactly reliable. Either I check, or I call a female doctor right now. It’s your choice.”
She was utterly at a loss for words.
Just then, Mabel emerged from the dining room and carried lunch to the table. She blinked, taken aback at the sight of the master of the house carrying the mistress into the bedroom- and closing the door behind them.
Her eyebrow twitched. At this rate, the food will get cold.
And honestly, doesn’t Mr. Fullbuster usually keeps his composure? What’s with this sudden burst of impatience? Mrs. Shaw is still very young–he ought to be more careful!
In the bedroom, Anneliese landed on the bed with a soft thud. She barely had time to sit up before he held her knees down with one solid hand.
She bit her lip, refusing to cooperate.
He simply hooked an arm around her waist, playfully smacked her, and commanded, “Lift up.”
