Anneliese could feel the traffic officer’s nosy, curious, and slightly intimidating stare. She nodded frantically, then pinched Jonathan hard on the side.

Jonathan only smiled, lips curling up, and turned to the officer.

“We had a little fight. I was making it up to her. We’re leaving now.”

The traffic officer looked up and rolled his eyes. Is this guy seriously acting out a drama?

He waved them off. “Go on, move along!” –

“Alright, we’re leaving,” Jonathan said. He rolled up the window and gave the woman in his arms a playful slap on the butt.

“You’re not getting out yet?”

Anneliese popped her head out from his arms and glared at him.

“Why did you have to say that to the officer?”

Jonathan couldn’t help laughing at his blushing wife. Her lipstick was smudged, her hair was messy, and her watery eyes were full of playful annoyance.

His gaze darkened, and he clicked his tongue. “You were clinging to me and wouldn’t get up. What else was I supposed to say? If you really want to keep this going right here, I’m up for it. I just don’t want the officer coming back to yell at us for disturbing the peace.”

She’d seen that look in his eyes a lot lately, and it scared her every time.

She scrambled off him, face burning, and pressed herself against the car door. “Hurry up and drive!”

Jonathan glanced at his flustered wife, straightened his wrinkled shirt and suit jacket, and got out of the car. He’d asked Zion to bring the car earlier, then sent him away once he arrived.

Jonathan drove Anneliese’s purple Maserati and dropped her off at the lab building.

“Call me when you’re done. I’ll pick you up,” he said before she got out.

“Got it, I’m going” Anneliese waved and hopped out without looking back.

Jonathan watched her leave before heading to the office. By the time he reached the office, AeroAir’s group chats were already blowing up. /

‘You guys won’t believe it! Guess what car Mr. Fullbuster drove today?‘

‘That flashy Maserati? Looks like a woman’s ride for sure. Is this real?‘
