Baron quickly pulled out his phone, snapped a photo, and started fiddling with it. Waylon trusted Baron’s skills.
“We’ll know soon enough,” Waylon said under his breath. “But what are these people doing here?”
“We’ll find out soon too,” Baron replied, already digging into the identity of the middle–aged man. More people kept arriving outside.
Natalie hadn’t officially entered the circle of high society, but she still knew a few of these people. After all, she’d grown up in Ocean City; she’d heard about them for years, and Jensen had mentioned many of their names before.
“Dad, Baron,” she said, “these people are basically the heirs of Ocean City’s elite families.”
Waylon’s brows furrowed even tighter.
“Natalie, are you sure?”
“I’m sure. That’s Mr. Jacob–met him before–total playboy. Back when Jensen first took over Luke Corp and needed outside help, I went with him once to a club. That’s where I met Jacob. Word is, he’s into every vice imaginable–drinking, gambling, drugs, women, all of it. His family gave up trying to control him long ago; as long as he doesn’t get himself killed, they don’t interfere.”
Natalie pointed at Jacob, who had just gone inside, then gestured toward a woman walking in from the opposite direction. “And that woman–she’s a rich girl too, from the Elias family in Ocean City. Her father’s legitimate daughter, but once his mistress became the new wife, her position got shaky. Maybe she’s hiding her true nature, or maybe that’s just who she is, but since then she’s been living it up–drinking, partying, never a quiet moment.”
As Natalie went on listing names, Baron and Waylon’s expressions grew darker. Every single one of them was a spoiled heir or a notorious socialite.
“Natalie,” Waylon said grimly, “you should stay away from that Luke boy. You were with him five years, and look at the kind of people he introduced you to!”
Waylon wanted to strangle Jensen right then and there.
Baron muttered darkly, “So Jensen took you to those clubs and let you meet that kind of

He suddenly felt like he hadn’t hit Jensen hard enough before. That scumbag wasn’t even worth the air he breathed.
Natalic was stunning. Why would Jensen take me to a club full of degenerates under the pretense of business talks! What was his real motive?
Baron’s words brought back memories Natalie would rather have forgotten.
When Jensen first took over the Luke family business, the shareholders had crushed him from every angle. To secure investments and partnerships, he’d been forced to cozy up to these spoiled heirs–men who only cared about food, drink, and pleasure. Naturally, Jensen had to play along.
Natalie never expected he’d bring her along.
The first couple of times hadn’t been too bad–Jensen had protected her, and out of respect for him, the others hadn’t gone too far. They’d just made her drink a few glasses of wine. But the last time, when Jacob had specifically requested her, she’d been terrified.
At that point, Jensen had still cared about her. Even though he knew offering Natalie up could secure the Hai family’s investment, he refused–and took her away instead. From then on, no matter how hard things got, he never brought her to places like that again.
That was when Natalie realized that if she wanted to avoid being dragged into that world again, she had to help Jensen solidify his position within the Luke family.
Jensen had apologized afterward, saying he never meant anything by bringing her there. But deep down, Natalie understood. She just didn’t want to fight about it back then–they were still in love, and she didn’t want to tear things apart. When he stopped taking her out, she let the whole thing go.
Later, when her designs became a hit and Jensen finally secured his footing at Luke Corp, he stopped taking her anywhere altogether; he practically hid her, afraid people would find out she was Sunny.
Looking back now, all those little details she’d ignored made perfect sense. He must’ve thought I used my body to convince Witch Doctor to save him, she thought bitterly. That’s why he could take me to those clubs without feeling guilty–because he thought I wasn’t clean anymore.
But when Jacob had tried to make a move on her, Jensen’s conscience–and his pride as a man -had stopped him from sacrificing her.
The memory made her expression darken. I was such a fool.
