“Ugh-”
She couldn’t help it and bent over, vomiting.

Baron immediately had someone bring water; Natalie felt as if she had emptied her entire stomach, yet the shocking image wouldn’t leave her mind.
She knew darkness existed in the world; she knew there were cold, cruel places–but she had never imagined it could be this black. Worst of all, these flower–like women had died so horribly, right here in our Stone residence.
Maybe it was her imagination, but Natalie felt icy drafts all around.
She glared at Logan with hatred and snapped, “Logan, aren’t you afraid they’ll come for you in the middle of the night? How could you be so cruel?”
Waylon’s face was equally grim.
This was murder on that scale.
“Order it! Remove Logan from the Stone family! Strike his wife and children, his descendants, from the Stone family genealogy.”
The men immediately went to carry it out.
Logan, who’d been doubting Waylon’s identity moments before, suddenly collapsed on the floor when he heard Waylon’s command.
“Mr. Waylon! I was wrong! Please
spare me!”
Logan begged desperately.
Waylon grabbed him by the collar, dragged him over the bones, and shoved his face toward them; he pointed at the remains and said, “You want me to spare you–did any of these people ever beg you to spare them? Did you spare them? Logan, you’re not even human! You’re an animal! This is our ancestral home; generations of the Stone family lived here. The Stone family are red–blooded capitalists who have given everything to the country and the people, and you, you scumbag, destroyed everything we stand for!”
Natalie went pale and could not utter a word.
Baron patted her back to comfort her, but he didn’t try to stop Waylon.

He admitted he wasn’t a saint; he’d had blood on his hands before–but he had never targeted the old, the young, women, or children, nor had he preyed on ordinary people.
Logan was indefensible; Waylon nearly shoved Logan’s head into the pile of bones.
The stench and the sight of rot made Logan scream, and he thrashed wildly.
“Put me down! Let me go!”
His voice was shrill; some inexplicable surge of strength came from him, he shoved Waylon off, scrambled up, and bolted.
Baron reacted immediately, whipping a surgical knife through the air.
“Ah!”
A piercing scream tore out; the blade had struck Logan’s knee.
He collapsed in a wet heap, but still refused to give up; he scrambled forward on hands and knees, as if distance would save him.
Waylon watched his spinelessness, thought of the Stone family’s dignity, and his eyes went bloodshot with rage.
“What are you waiting for? Seize him!”
Waylon barked; his men sprang into action.
Logan fought and yelled, refusing to submit. Then, a red dot of light flickered across Baron’s
eyes.
His heart leapt into his throat.
“Dad, watch out!”
Baron shoved Natalie to the ground and dove on top of Waylon.
At the same time, a muffled sound sounded; everyone’s scalp tingled.
It was the sound of a bullet entering flesh.
Natalie’s gaze snapped instinctively toward Logan.
Everyone had believed that red laser was aimed at him–after all, without any powerful backing, he would’ve never dared to stir up trouble inside the Stone residence.
