talk outside.”

“Dad, I’m not afraid.”

Natalie spoke up before he could move.

Natalie met his eyes. “Dad, I know what you’re worried about. But I’m part of the Stone family; there’ll only be more situations like this in the future, not fewer. I’m not Mom; I can handle it.”

Yvonne didn’t know what was happening outside, but since Natalie insisted on going, she didn’t try to stop her.

“Uncle, let her go; I’ll be fine here. The doctor and the guards are still around–no one would dare touch me.”

With Yvonne saying that, Waylon couldn’t object any further.

“Alright, come along then. But if you start feeling unwell, tell me right away.”

“Okay.”

Natalie nodded, then turned to Yvonne. “I’ll step out for a bit. Listen to the doctor. If anyone tries anything, these are all Stone family people–just tell them what to do.”

“I know, Natalie. Don’t worry about me.”

If she weren’t afraid that her parents‘ belongings might be taken away while she was gone, Yvonne never would’ve stayed behind to make Natalie worry.
