Natalic couldn’t help laughing at the sight before her. She walked over to Baron, slipped her arm through his, and said quietly, “Yvonne brought back a disk from the old residence. It was left by Uncle Xenon-there might be some clues on it. We were planning to take a look now. Do you want to join us?”

Baron froze for a second. “A disk?”

“Yeah. Yvonne said Uncle Xenon left it behind. Alden gave it to her, and we ran into someone when we were leaving the house.”

Natalie told him everything about the fake police officer they’d encountered. Baron’s expression darkened. “Did you tell Dad about this?”

“Dad went to the station to give a statement and cooperate with the investigation. His phone’s probably not even with him right now. I wanted to tell him, but there are too many people around-it’s not the best time. So I thought we should take a look first. When Dad comes home, he can see it too. At least if something happens, we’ll have an early lead.”

Natalie explained her and Flynn’s reasoning.

Baron thought for a long moment. Under normal circumstances, he would’ve agreed with her immediately. But things were different now, and the Stone family’s situation was complicated. He couldn’t afford to act rashly.

“Where are the kids?” he asked suddenly, realizing how quiet the house was.

Natalie explained how Payne and Zoey had taken the children to the Mateo family’s estate, saying Mason wasn’t feeling well and needed to take his medication. The kids loved going there, so Payne had brought them along.

Baron’s eyes brightened. “Then we’ll go to the Mateo estate. We’ll take the disk to Brian and look at it together. This matter involves the Stone family, and you were part of it years ago— you have every right to see it. But we don’t know what’s on that disk. If it’s something sensitive, it’s better to have Brian there. He can help keep us protected. Dad’s not back yet; we can’t make any reckless moves.”

Natalie paused, then nodded in understanding. “Got it.”

She looked over at Ruby and Flynn-who was still whining while Ruby lectured him-and couldn’t help smiling. “I wish our family could always stay like this. Look at them. My brother’s howling, but he’s still letting Mom take it out on him. And Mom looks like she’s angry, but she’s really just venting her feelings.”

She didn’t say what she was really thinking-that even with all their chaos and shouting, everyone in this family cared about one another. It was nothing like the Summers family, who looked polite and proper on the surface but were cold as ice underneath.

Baron saw that thought reflected in her eyes. He took her hand gently and said, “That’s all in the past. From now on, our family will always be like this.”

“I believe you.”

Natalie smiled. Baron gave her hand a small squeeze before saying, “Wait here. I’ll go get your mom and brother.”

“Okay.”

Natalie nodded and released him.

Baron blinked. Her hand had been soft and warm-why did she have to let go so soon? He almost reached for her again but stopped himself, afraid she’d think he was being clingy. He rubbed his palms together awkwardly and walked toward Ruby and Flynn.

Yvonne was still watching the commotion with a grin, and Baron couldn’t help shaking his head. “How are you holding up? You feeling all right?”

Yvonne turned and nodded quickly. “I’m fine. It’s just surface wounds. The doctor already treated me, and the family doctor gave me some medicine-said it works fast. I don’t feel any pain now. Sorry for worrying you.”

“Don’t talk nonsense,” Baron said. “No matter what happens, you’re my sister now. I’d never let anything happen to you. And in a way, this whole mess turned out to be a blessing-you found what your father left behind. Maybe now we can finally start uncovering the truth.”

His tone grew heavy.

Yvonne nodded, her face serious. “Yeah. Whether it’s the kidnapping, the Stone residence incident, my parents’ car crash, or the baby swap with my sister-it all feels connected. Like someone’s been pulling the strings behind everything. But I’ve never found a single clue. When we caught Anna, I thought we finally had a breakthrough, but it turned out she was just Rachel’s pawn. She knew nothing. I just hope this disk will tell us something.”

Her voice trembled slightly. Ever since she’d learned she was part of the Stone family, she’d become deeply invested in their troubles. And since this tied to her parents’ deaths, she was desperate for answers.

Baron patted her shoulder. “We’ll go to Brian together. No matter what’s on that disk, stay calm when you see it.”
