Chapter 120
After hanging up. Teresa sat on the bed for a while. Yolanda’s words no longer affected her. She just felt numb to it all.
Yolanda had already made up her mind to see Naomi as her mother, and why Yolanda liked her so much didn’t really matter anymore.
After gathering herself, Teresa began tidying up the room. Once she had put away the petals and gifts, she went to wash up and then went to bed.
The next morning. Teresa got ready and left the Sullivan Mansion, determined to meet Charles in person and talk about getting a divorce. So, she headed straight to his office.
Outside his office building, Teresa called Charles, but he didn’t answer. Instead, he texted: [I’m in a meeting. We’ll talk later.]
She messaged him back: [I’ll wait for you at your office.]
Charles didn’t reply, so Teresa quietly took a seat in the lobby and waited.
About half an hour later, the receptionist’s eyes lit up, and she stood up, beaming. “Ms. Yates, you’re here.”
Teresa turned to see that it was Naomi who had just walked in.
“Is Charles here?” Naomi asked, standing at the reception desk.
The receptionist replied, “Mr. Logan is out at a meeting, but he said if you come by and he’s not here, you can wait in his office. Let me take you up.”
Naomi smiled gently. “Thank you.”
The receptionist quickly added, “No need to be so polite, Ms. Yates. If you need anything, just let us know.”
Naomi nodded, and the receptionist led her to the CEO’s private elevator.
Teresa watched everything unfold, feeling a wave of bitterness wash over her. Since marrying Charles, she had barely ever visited his company, but Naomi already seemed like she owned the place.
Teresa, the legitimate Mrs. Logan, wasn’t even recognized by anyone here. Yet Naomi, who was supposed to be an outsider, was treated with respect by everyone.
It was clear how much Charles valued her. It was only because Charles cared about Naomi that everyone around him treated her with such respect.
After another half hour, the sound of a car horn finally broke the silence outside. Charles walked in, surrounded by a group of people, When Teresa saw him, she quickly stood up.
Liam, who was walking beside Charles, spotted Teresa first. He leaned in and whispered, “Mr. Logan, it’s Mrs. Logan.”
Charles glanced in her direction, his brow furrowing slightly. He hadn’t seen her message about waiting at his office, so he was taken aback by her presence
As he approached, he stopped and asked, his voice tinged with annoyance, “What are you doing here?”
Teresa could sense the hidden meaning in his tone. It was as if he saw her as someone who didn’t belong here, and her presence would make him lose face in front of everyone
But she didn’t care anymore. She looked at him and said. “We need to talk. Alone With so many people around, she wasn’t going to bring up the divorce just yet
Charles had no idea what she wanted to talk about, but he was busy. He said, “I’ve got a meeting upstairs. Can you wait for me?”
Teresa frowned and asked. “How long will that take?“.
Churles paused to think before replying, “About half an hour”
Teresa just shrugged it off, not bothering to argue with Charles. She simply asked, “So, where are we headed now?”
Charles replied, “Already booked us a table at a restaurant.”
Teresa figured a restaurant wasn’t really the place for this kind of conversation, so she suggested, “Let’s go to Brocade Villa instead.” Brocade Villa was their new home–it was the right place for things to end.
Charles looked surprised, furrowing his brows. “Isn’t today not your ovulation day?”
Teresa immediately understood what he meant. Her expression turned icy as she shot back, “Charles, is having another baby the only thing we ever talk about?”
Charles blinked, clearly lost. “Huh?”
With the car still rolling, Teresa said, “Pull over.”
Without asking any more questions, Charles did as she asked. It was the first time he actually listened to her. The flowers and gift in the backseat were the first things he’d ever given her.
Once the car stopped, Teresa turned to Charles, her eyes filled with cold detachment. “I’ve had the agreement for Brocade Villa ready for a long time. Is there something wrong with it? Is that why you haven’t signed it?”
Charles had never even looked at the agreement–he still didn’t realize it was a divorce agreement. He shook his head, keeping it short.
“No”
Teresa felt a sharp pain in her chest. She took a steady breath before calinly saying, “Charles, we’re done here. I won’t interfere with whoever you want to be with, but this marriage needs to end.”
