ne always suspected Troy was being nice to her for a reason, but whenever he let his feelings show, it left her utterly perplexed.

ould someone really put on such an act, just for their own benefit?

-resa couldn’t stop doubting–was Troy just faking it, or did he really mean what he said?

onestly, she had no idea what to believe anymore.

e decided to stop overthinking it.

hinking back to Troy’s words, she replied, “Honestly, it doesn’t really matter anymore.”

er voice was calm, and Troy could tell she wasn’t just saying it out of anger.

earing her say that, Troy grinned and said, “Hey, it’s never too late for a fresh start. Dating a few guys isn’t the worst idea, you know.”

eresa slumped against the headboard, wiped out. Troy’s remark made her knit her brows, but as she looked at him, she couldn’t help at let a small smile tug at her lips. “Really? You still have the nerve to tease me when I’m like this?”

roy’s gaze grew earnest. “I’m not teasing you, and I’m not kidding around. I’m dead serious.”

eresa knew when Troy said she should test out a few guys, what he really meant was himself.

owever, she decided to drop it and let the subject go.

ith lunchtime just around the corner, Teresa switched gears without missing a beat. “Troy, I want some shrimp.”

he honestly just wanted shrimp right now—and absolutely no more talk about feelings.

roy’s face lit up–Teresa rarely asked for anything. “Sure thing, I’ll have it delivered.”

ut when she saw Troy’s grin, Teresa suddenly remembered and quickly said, “Just don’t ask your mom to make it.”

roy looked up at her, still grinning, and held his phone screen out. “Too late. I’ve already sent the message.”

Teresa glanced at the WhatsApp chat on his screen, thinking to ask Troy to retract the message.

But his mother had already replied, “No worries! If she loves shrimp, I can cook it for her every single day.”

bove that was Troy’s message: [Sharon, your future daughter–in–law wants shrimp.]

Teresa didn’t even bother to check the rest of the chat.

Seeing things were already set in stone, Teresa shut her eyes for a second and then asked, “Troy, is this really how you hit on women?”

She was totally serious, her eyes full of genuine confusion.

Troy tucked his phone away, shot her a sly little smirk, and said, “I haven’t hit on anyone else. The only one I ever wanted was you.”

Teresa didn’t really take what Troy said to heart. She just quipped. “If that’s the case, then you sure know how to play the game.”

Troy froze for a moment, his face suddenly hardening as he shot back. “Do you have to mess with me like this?*

Teresa picked up on his irritation, turned to face him and said, “Honestly, I didn’t mean anything by it

Troy took a deep breath, abour to say, Ir’s fine. I’m used to it by now.

But before he could get the words out, Teresa’s phone on the nightstand lit up again.

Not surprisingly, it was Charles calling once more.

Thinking about how Charles had already called over a dozen times, Troy asked, sounding a little concerned. “Are you really not going to answer? What if it’s something urgent?”

Teresa was just as firm as before. “I’m not picking up.”

Seeing her determination, Troy let it go and didn’t press the issue any further.

Charles was his love rival. No way was he going to push Teresa toward him.

Outside the emergency room, Charles paced anxiously, calling Teresa over and over.

When she never answered, he finally stopped trying.

After waiting in the hospital for two hours, Charles got another call from Liam.

“Mr. Logan, the morning meeting still hasn’t wrapped up. Everyone’s waiting for you to get back,” Liam said.

Charles then instructed Sharon to stay at the hospital and told her to call him the moment there was any news about Yolanda.

As the housekeeper, Sharon would never dare go against Charles’s instructions.

After leaving the hospital, Charles spent the entire afternoon busy at the office.

During that whole time, Sharon didn’t call.

By the time he finished up, it was already around 7 PM.

phone call?

Charles cut straight to the point. “Have you seen Teresa around?

Yvonne didn’t answer. Instead, she asked, “What’s going on?

She simply said, “I’m just Teresa’s sister–in–law. I’m not really in a position to know her whereabouts, so I’m sorry–1 truly don’t know where she is, and can’t help you.”

Yvonne glanced at him a couple more times, then reached for Monica’s hand and continued toward the ward.

But just as they were about to leave, Charles turned and called out, “Yvonne, with the change of seasons there’s a flu bug going around. Better not bring Monica to the hospital for now.”

Only then did it dawn on Yvonne–she’d completely forgotten about the risk of the flu.

She gave Charles a soft smile. “Okay.”

With that, she took Monica’s hand and headed back out of the hospital.

When Yvonne came back, Charles was nowhere to be seen in the garden.

She carried the bag of fruit into the hospital ward.

By the time she reached Teresa’s room, Troy was there, carefully spoon–feeding dinner to

her.

Yvonne glanced at the meal tray and saw a generous selection of dishes–all light, healthy, and clearly perfect for someone recovering. Yvonne smiled and said, “Mr. Hamilton, you’re so attentive. This is definitely homemade–you really went the extra mile for her.”

Troy looked up and gave Yvonne a warm smile. “Good eye, Yvonne-

Yvonne’s eyes flickered, and she quickly asked, “So you already told

my mother actually made all this herself.”

about Teresa?

Still feeding Teresa, Troy nodded. “Yeah, I brought her up to my mom ages ago.”

Yvonne lowered her voice a little, testing, “And did you mention that Teresa was married before, and that she has a kid?”

Once Teresa had almost finished eating, Troy gently wiped her mouth, then stood and addressed Yvonne seriously. “Yvonne, everyone around me–friends, family, even people at work–they all know there’s only one woman in my heart. And they know it’s her or no one for me.”

Yvonne kept her eyes on Troy, watching his every move. ‘He’s not just saying this to sound good… He’s actually for real,‘ she thought to herself, a little surprised.

She paused, then let out a gentle laugh. “Well, Mr. Hamilton, you’re really the kind of guy a woman could bet her whole future on.”
