Chapter 197
With Wendy around, Teresa didn’t have time to spiral into her own thoughts. Her mood visibly lifted.

As they talked, Teresa couldn’t help but ask about George.
Wendy explained that George kept finding new ways to try and contact her, but she ignored every single one.
Eight years of being together—and now, tearing him out of her life felt like ripping off a piece of her own flesh.
The love had been real, but so was the disappointment.
George not only cheated and was abusive, but he also treated Wendy like she was nothing more than his plaything.
Teresa felt genuinely relieved to see Wendy finally have the courage to walk away from someone like that.
Just then, a confused voice called out from behind them. “Mrs. Logan?”
Teresa turned to see Sharon standing there.
She gave her

Sharon stepped into the gazebo and stood beside Teresa. She asked in a puzzled tone, “Mrs. Logan, Mr. Logan just came looking for you. Didn’t you see him?”
Teresa blinked in confusion, then shook her head. “No, I didn’t see him.”
doing?”
Sharon looked like she wanted to say more, but Teresa asked another question instead. “Oh, by the way, how’s Yolanda
“Mrs. Logan, Miss Yolanda’s already been moved to a regular room. She’s doing much better now -full of energy again,” Sharon replied.
Teresa let out a sigh of relief. “That’s good to hear.”
Teresa could tell Sharon had something on her mind, but she jumped in before Sharon could start, “Sharon, you go ahead and get back to your work. Wendy and I are going to walk around for a bit.”
With that, she took Wendy by the hand and quickly led her out of the gazebo.
Every time Sharon tried to get a word out, Teresa shut her down before she could say anything.
Seeing that, Sharon had no choice but to call Charles.
The hospital’s garden was spacious, and even though it was early winter, the air blossoms.

After a while, Wendy shot Teresa a meaningful look, hinting for her to glance over her shoulder.
Teresa turned and spotted Charles approaching slowly from the distance.
The morning mist hung thick in the air. Charles strode toward them, his black coat open, damp hair clinging to his forehead, the hem of his coat swirling slightly with each step he took through the fog.
As soon as Teresa realized it was Charles, her instincts kicked in and she started to walk away.
But he was quicker. He quickly stepped forward and called out to Wendy “Miss Stone, could you give us a moment? I need to speak with my wife privately.”
Wendy didn’t answer Charles–instead, she fixed her gaze on Teresa, waiting for her to make the call.
If Teresa said she didn’t want to stick around, Wendy would’ve whisked her away that very second.
But finally, Teresa patted Wendy’s hand and said in a low voice, “Why don’t you walk around for a hit?”
Wendy looked a little worried, but Teresa shot her a gentle smile and a look that said ‘don’t worry about me That was enough to convince Wendy to leave, even though she clearly didn’t want to.
Charles’s brow furrowed sharply when he saw Teresa standing in nothing but a thin, fluffy pajama set. “It’s so cold out–what are you

doing out here dressed like that?”
Teresa slowly turned around and lifted her gaze to Charles. In just a couple smooth moves, he shrugged off his long black coat and wrapped it around her shoulders from behind.

Just as the coat was about to settle on her, Teresa instinctively flinched away. “Charles, you really don’t have to- I don’t need you doing this for me.”
Teresa didn’t bother to answer, her tone impatient. “Just get to the point.”
She gave a nonchalant shrug and said, “Don’t worry about it, I’m already used to stuff like this.”
But Teresa cut him off without missing a beat, “Yeah, got it.”
Seeing the distance in her eyes, Charles just gave a short, noncommittal, “Min.”
Teresa gave him a faint smile, shrugging off the coat and handing it back to him. “If there’s nothing else. I’m heading out.”
Charles didn’t take the coat right away. He said, “Seriously, it’s freezing–just keep it on, so you don’t get sick again.”
Teresa smiled, but her tone was firm. “I really don’t need it, thanks.”
She kept insisting, so Charles finally took it back.
Once he’d accepted it, Teresa didn’t hesitate–she turned and walked away without looking back.
Watching her walk away, Charles couldn’t help but think back to the Teresa he used to know,

Chapter 197
Back then, when he came home, she’d take his bag and coat from him. When he left, she’d make sure his tie was straight. If he worked late, she’d bring him hot tea. When he was ready to unwind, she’d run him a bath….
They hadn’t spent much time living together, but whenever they did, she’d always take care of him in every little way.
She used to really long for a bit of kindness from him.
He even remembered how, when she burned her hand, she’d come running to him, tears in her eyes, and say, “Charles, can you blow on my finger for me?”
Back then, Charles would just give her a cool glance and say dryly, “I’m not a doctor. Go ask Barbara to put some ice on it.”
Maybe he’d caught that flash of disappointment in Teresa’s eyes, but honestly, back then, he never bothered to care.
Just like now- he could feel that uncomfortable ache in his chest, but Teresa couldn’t care less anymore.
As Teresa walked farther and farther away, Charles couldn’t hold back anymore and called out, “Teresa, wait a minute.”
Teresa stopped and glanced back at him. “Is there something else?”
Charles said, “Sharon will be bringing lunch around noon. Would you like to join me?”
Teresa shook her head. “No need, I’m having food delivered.”
With that, she turned and walked away again.
Charles just stood there, staring at her retreating figure, totally rooted to the spot.”

Something odd twisted in his heart–a feeling he couldn’t name, not pain, not jealousy, just a mess he didn’t know what to do with. ‘So she’s got someone bringing her lunch now, he thought. ‘Was it Troy? Or Hector? Or… someone else? The question gnawed at him, no matter how hard he tried to ignore it.
