Three hours before, in the villa next to Joyacre Villa, the entire place was ablaze with lights and oozed luxury.

>

Ava had just moved in and was looking forward to an early night’s sleep when Sharon showed up at her door with Yolanda in tow.

As soon as Ava opened the door, Yolanda bounced right into her arms, wrapping her arms around Ava’s leg. “Grandma Ava, can I sleep with you tonight?” she asked excitedly.

Charles had just called Yolanda to let her know that he and Miss Naomi would be out late socializing, and told her to get some rest for

now.

But Yolanda just couldn’t fall asleep, so she thought maybe Ava could keep her company.

She begged Sharon to sneak her over quietly to the house next to Joyacre Villa.

Ava had been running around all day, and the moment she saw Yolanda–the little princess–she felt a surge of annoyance bubbling inside her.

But with Sharon watching, Ava put on her warmest grandmotherly smile and hugged Yolanda close. “Well, Grandma Ava was just thinking about you! I didn’t expect you’d really come over. Such a sweet girl you’re keeping me company tonight.”

Saying this, Ava scooped Yolanda up into her arms.

Yolanda tipped her head against Ava, giggling away, absolutely thrilled.

Seeing Yolanda all smiles in Ava’s arms, Sharon finally took her leave, feeling at ease.

After Ava got Yolanda settled in bed, she finally went to the bathroom to wash up.

While brushing her teeth, Ava grumbled and cursed, letting out a whole string of insults at Yolanda’s ancestors.

Most of all, Teresa–how could she have raised such an ungrateful little brat?

Finally, after washing up and barely getting to sleep, Yolanda suddenly burst into loud wails.

Ava was yanked awake and couldn’t help but curse, “You little mutt, why didn’t Teresa just smother you when she had you?

Muttering insults under her breath, Ava still sat up and gathered Yolanda into her arms, half–heartedly trying to comfort her.

But no matter what she did, Yolanda just kept on crying.

At her wit’s end, Ava dialed up Charles for help.

Charles was probably tied up helping Naomi find a new project or something, which was why he took forever to answer.

As soon as he finally picked up, Ava practically blurted out what was going on with Yolanda.

When he heard the commotion, Charles told Ava to put him on the phone with Yolanda.

But even with Charles coaxing her, Yolanda wouldn’t stop bawling.

Even Naomi tried to calm Yolanda down, but honestly, nothing worked–no matter what anyone said, she just kept crying

Thinking maybe the kid just wanted her mom, Charles grabbed his phone and dialed Teresa straight away.

Ava honestly hadn’t expected Teresa to flat–out refuse to come back.

But on second thought, she mused, ‘What mother in her right mind would let her kid get all chummy with their dad’s mistress?”

If he were in Teresa’s place, Ava thought, she wouldn’t have come back either.

With Charles and Naomi both busy, the job of calining Yolanda down fell right back on Aya.

She managed to keep her patience at first.

But the more she tried, the harder Yolanda cried until Ava just snapped.

*All you ever do is wail. What, you want to send your dad over the edge? Or drive your mom crazy?” Ava snapped, her voice biting and

merciless.

She held nothing back–the way she spoke was brutally harsh, her words landing with cruel force.

Yolanda, tears streaming down her cheeks, jerked at Ava’s outburst, flinching instinctively.

She took advantage of the moment, pulling Yolanda gently into her arms and softening her voice, “Grandma Ava was just worried you’d keep crying, so I had to be a bit strict. Be good, Yolanda, and let’s keep this just between us, okay?”

The next morning, just as Yolanda was waking up, Naom

Seeing Naomi, Yolanda jumped out of bed barefoot and ran straight into her arms, tears streaming down her face. “Miss Naomi, you’re finally back!”

Naomi crouched down, gently wiping Yolanda’s tears away. “What’s wrong? Are you upset?

Yolanda didn’t say a word about what had happened the night before. Instead, she looked up at Naomi with big, hopeful eyes. “I don’t have school today. Can you stay home with me, Miss Nagini?”

Naomi hesitated, a little torn. “But I have a meeting with my advisor today.”

Yolanda’s face fell, her lips pouting in disappointment. “Okay then…”

Seeing Yolanda look so down, Naomi gently suggested, “Why don’t you let Grandma Ava keep you company for a while?”

Yolanda immediately shook her head, remembering how strict Grandma Ava was last night. “No way, I don’t want that.”

Naomi frowned with concern. “What’s wrong?”

Yolanda avoided the question and mumbled, “I’ll just go hang out with Mr. Richard instead.

Naomi didn’t ask any more questions. “Alright, I’ll take you over to Mr. Richard.”

Yolanda nodded in agreement.

After dropping Yolanda off, Naomi headed straight to the kitchen, where Ava was busy making breakfast.

“Mom.” Naomi called out as she walked in.

Ava turned around, smiling warmly. “You’re back?”

Naomi walked over, her brow furrowed. “What’s going on with Yolanda?”

Ava set down what she was holding, wiped her hands on a towel, and looked at Naomi. “She cried all night and just wouldn’t stop. It really got on my nerves, and honestly, I couldn’t take it anymore–I ended up snapping at her, pretty harshly.”

Naomi’s frown finally relaxed and she said softly to Ava, “If she starts crying again, don’t waste your breath yelling at her–just give her a little smack. Honestly, I’ve been fed up with her for a long time, but never found the right opportunity to put her in her place. Mom, just think of it as doing your daughter a favor.”
