When she noticed his movement, Teresa finally let go of his hand and said calmly, “And what’s the use in going over there? Give Yolanda a piece of your mind? Does that even change anything? Honestly, just let them do whatever they want.”

With those words, Teresa spun around and headed back toward Monica and the others.

She thought to herself, ‘I’ve already said everything I needed to say. If Troy still insists on going, then that’s his problem—not mine. I’m done stopping him.‘

It didn’t matter whether he was truly worried Yolanda was heading down the wrong path, or afraid Naomi might be drawn away–those were his issues to deal with. He could make his own choices.

When Teresa found Monica and Zane, they’d already finished lunch and were now just having fun playing games.

No sooner had Teresa sat down than Troy came back.

Teresa was honestly, a bit surprised to see him return.

‘He really didn’t go talk to Naomi? Te

wondered to herself.

Emilie saw that they’d just gotten back and immediately started sorting out lunch for them.

As she was eating, Teresa felt a nagging pain in her lower belly. After a quick mental calculation, she realized it was probably just that time of the month again.

She brushed it off, not really caring all that much.

For the rest of the afternoon, Teresa was totally out of it, listless and just unable to shake off the low mood.

Troy caught onto her vibe, but figured she was still bothered by the whole

By five o’clock, the daycare event was over.

Yolanda drama.

After Teresa dropped Monica off at the Sullivan Mansion, she drove straight over to Joyacre Villa.

She arrived at Joyacre right around 6:30 PM, just in time for dinner.

Charles was home, Richard was there too, but Yolanda wasn’t back yet.

Sharon had already set the table for dinner. When Richard saw that Yolanda still wasn’t back, he glanced at Teresa as she walked in and asked “Where’s Yolanda? Why isn’t she home yet?”

Teresa was momentarily at a loss, then instinctively looked over at Charles.

Yolanda’s pretty much cut ties with me. How would I possibly know where she is now?‘ Teresa mused.

Charles exchanged a glance with Teresa, then answered his grandfather, Grandpa, Yolanda went to a friend’s house. She said she’d come back after having dinner there.”

A friend? Teresa could hardly hold back a laugh. With how infamous Yolanda was at daycare, there was just no way she actually had any friends.

Still, Teresa ler Charles’s little white lie slide without saying anything.

Seeing that Yolanda wasn’t coming back, Richard turned to Teresa and said, “Teresa, come on, have a seat dinner’s about to start” Teresa nodded and sat down at the table.

As she sat, a sharp pain stabbed at her lower abdomen again.

Because of the ache in her belly, she’d been totally out of it all day—se pale and listless that she looked a butle scary.

Even though the whole table was loaded with food, Teresa just couldn’t bring herself to eat a single bite.

Richard told Charles to serve Teresa some soup, and Charles did as he was told.

But seeing all the rich, meaty soup in her bowl, Teresa had absolutely no appetite for it.

Just as dinner was about to start, Teresa suddenly turned to Charles and said, “Charles, I have two things to say to you, and I want Grandpa to hear them too.”

Her sudden, serious tone caught Charles so off guard it sent a chill down his spine.

‘Is she really about to bring up divorce in front of Grandpa?‘ he thought nervously to himself.

Not daring to risk it, Charles lowered his voice and said quietly to Teresa, “Grandpa’s in the middle of dinner. Whatever it is, let’s talk upstairs.

But Teresa insisted, “No, we’re talking about it right here.”

Charles tightened his grip on his chopsticks, but before he could say a word, Richard spoke up, “That’s right, whatever you need to say, say it in front of me. If Charles has been giving you trouble, Teresa, don’t worry–I’ll take your side.”

Whether Richard truly meant it or not, his words still warmed Teresa’s heart.

She smiled and thanked him, “Thank you, Grandpa.”

Charles just shrugged, totally unfazed. “And what if I don’t make Yolanda apologize?

Charles’s face darkened. He snapped, “Yolanda’s still so young. Are you really going to beat her up?

Charles couldn’t help but raise his voice. Teresa, you’re her mom! Do you even know what you’re saying?”

Once the two of them started going at it, Richard just couldn’t get a word in edgewise,

Teresa saw Charles’s face contorted with rage and almost automatically tried to get up–but suddenly felt a warm rush between her legs.

So, she sat back down again.

The pain in her lower abdomen only grew sharper, until her entire body broke out in a cold sweat.

Even so, she didn’t make a sound. Keeping her face icy, she told Charles, “If this were before, no matter how much you objected or felt bad, I definitely would’ve made her kneel and apologize. But now? Handle it however you want.”

With that. Teresa held her lower belly and got to her feet, heading for the door of Joyacre Villa.

But she’d barely taken two steps when she suddenly froze.

At the same time, she looked down and there, on her calf, were thin, unmistakable lines of blood, standing out bright and clear.

Her cheeks instantly flushed hot with embarrassment.

‘Can’t believe my period had to embarrass me like this… Teresa thought, mortified.

But before she could process it any further, her vision suddenly went black and she passed out cold.

Teresa collapsed to the floor, blood trailing from her calf and staining the ground beneath her.

Charles froze for half a heartbeat when Teresa suddenly collapsed, then jumped up and hurried over to her without thinking.

Kneeling beside her, he reached out and tapped her cheek, trying desperately to wake her.

But her face was ghostly pale, not a trace of color left–she looked absolutely terrifying.

Right then, Charles felt panic surge through his heart.

Not wasting a second, he scooped Teresa up in his arms and rushed her toward the door.

Richard, struggling with his cane, couldn’t even hope to catch up. Out of breath, he shouted after them, “Charles, call me when you get to the hospital!”

Charles’s voice came back, tight with urgency, “I will, Grandpa!”

When Teresa slowly opened her eyes, she saw Charles standing by the window, smoking one cigarette after another.

She couldn’t tell how many he’d already had, but the whole room was thick with smoke.

Unable to stand it, Teresa frowned and said, “Charles, could you smoke outside?”

As soon as she spoke, Teresa realized her voice was so hoarse, it barely even sounded like her own.

Charles crushed out his barely–smoked cigarette in the ashtray.

After making sure it was dead, he walked over to the hospital bed.

He dropped into the chair beside her, eyes cold and serious. “Teresa, tell me straight–why do you think you fainted?”
