After making himself comfortable, Troy sprawled out in bed, shamelessly deciding to warm it up for Teresa–even if she hadn’t asked for it.

He figured that once she got back and finished her shower, she’d have a nice, cozy bed waiting to drift off in.

But Troy kept waiting and waiting, until he’d nearly finished an entire short series–and still, Teresa was nowhere to be seen.

Just as Troy was about to lose his patience, he suddenly heard Yvonne and Theodore’s voices chatting outside the room.

“Hey, you’re back,” Yvonne greeted as Theodore walked in.

“Yeah. Why aren’t you asleep yet?” Theodore asked.

“I was waiting for you–I wanted to talk about Teresa. I can’t shake the feeling something’s not quite right with her.”

“What’s up?” Theodore said.

Yvonne lowered her voice, “I called her tonight, asked her to come home for dinner, but she told me she was working late and couldn’t

make it. Then, after you suddenly said you had to work late too, I figured I’d just pack up the leftovers and bring them to her. But when I got to the hospital, she was nowhere to be seen. I even checked with the doctor on duty–he said Teresa doesn’t have night shifts until next week, and apparently she never showed up at the hospital at all today.”

Theodore frowned, looking puzzled. “Maybe she went over to Joyacre Villa to hang out with Yolanda?”

Yvonne shook her head. “Even if that’s true, there’s no reason for her to lie about it.”

Theodore’s frown grew deeper. “Let me try calling her.”

But when he dialed her number, her phone was already turned off.

Seeing this, Yvonne started to look worried. “You don’t think something happened to her, do you?”

Theodore looked worried. “Why don’t we head over to Joyacre Villa and see for ourselves?”

With that suggestion, the pair made their way downstairs together.

But just as they hit the stairs, Troy threw open Teresa’s bedroom door from the inside.

Yvonne and Theodore both instinctively turned at the sound of the door opening.

Seeing that it was Troy, Theodore paused and said, “What are you doing in here again?

Troy strode over to Theodore, and before he could answer, Troy asked, “Wait, Theo, are you saying Teresa hasn’t come back home at all these past couple of days?

Theodore just rolled his eyes at Troy, clearly not in the mood to talk.

Yvonne caught the awkward vibes, nudged Theodore, then said to Troy, “Yeah, Teresa’s basically been crashing at Joyacre Villa lately.”

Troy’s brows furrowed, disappointment flickering in his eyes before fading away. He let out a self–deprecating laugh. “Figures.

Noticing how bummed Troy looked, Yvonne quickly explained, “But tonight was weird. I called her and she said she was working late. but when I swung by to drop off food, she wasn’t there–and she didn’t even have a shift today.”

Troy sensed that something wasn’t quite right. “Let’s head over to Joyacre Villa and have a look,” he suggested.

Before long, they pulled up at the entrance of Joyacre Villa

As soon as they stopped, Troy spotted a “family of three strolling leisurely down the path.

Charles and Naomi were each holding one of Yolanda’s hands, and every so often, Yolanda would use their arms to swing herself up off the ground.

She was having the time of her life, her cheerful laughter echoing through every corner.

Troy couldn’t help but feel strangely pissed off, and Zane immediately came to mind.

Yolanda was clearly the one at fault, but after Monica scolded her, everyone just acted like nothing had ever happened–as if it had all been swept under the rug.

But with Zane, those words were scars he’d have to carry forever, something that would always sting deep inside.

Troy stared at Charles’s back, his hands balling into fists before he even realized it.

He was always jealous of Charles–why did he get to have Teresa? Why did she treat him so differently?

Watching the wholesome family scene ahead, Troy couldn’t keep watching and ended up turning his head away.

But at that moment, Theodore snapped, “Disgusting.”

Troy glanced up and saw Theodore glaring in Charles’s direction–the insult was obviously aimed at him.

Seeing Troy and Theodore still sitting in the car, Yvonne spoke up, “I’ll go ask them.”

Yvonne, confused and worried, insisted, “But I already checked the hospital–she definitely wasn’t working a shift tonight.”

Troy explained, “Yvonne, she went there as a patient.”

Troy turned away, staring out the window. His chest felt icy cold as he murmured, “Teresa went to the maternity ward.”

‘What would she be doing at the maternity ward? Is she getting prenatal care… or is she…‘

Yvonne went rigid, her whole body freezing up. “What?

Troy said, “Theo, Yvonne, you guys go to the hospital. I… I’m not going.”

Theodore let out a cold, mocking laugh. “Heh, birds of a feather, aren’t you.”

With that, Theodore pushed open the car door and stepped out.

Yvonne glanced over at Troy a couple of times, but when he didn’t react at all, she finally got out of the car.

He hit so hard his knuckles split open, leaving blood seeping from the skin.

Staring at it, tears suddenly welled up, rolling down his cheeks and splattering into the blood. The mixture splashed out, flecking red all

Then his phone buzzed–a message from one of his guys confirmed Teresa was at the hospital, but she’d been admitted to the maternity ward.

The only two possibilities that came to mind were both ones he’d been dreading.

So Teresa had really been involved with Charles all along.

Just thinking about it made Troy’s chest ache. He raised his hand and slapped himself hard across the face, twice.

Turns out, he’d been the joke all along–the real fool in this story was him.

Yvonne and Theodore hurried straight to the hospital, heading right for the maternity ward.

At the nurse’s station, they asked for Teresa’s room number.

Just as they were rushing toward her room, Wendy stepped out of the doctor’s office.

She nearly collided with Yvonne and Theodore in the hallway.

Seeing them, Wendy instantly felt her heart drop.

She quickly pulled out her phone and shot Teresa a message: “Theo and Yvonne are here.”

Message sent, Wendy lifted her head and called out, “Hey, Theo, Yvonne–what are you doing here?”

Theodore’s brow furrowed a bit when he spotted Wendy. He got right to the point. “Where’s Teresa?”

Wendy gave a cautious smile. “Theo, to be honest, Teresa just drifted off to sleep. Maybe we shouldn’t wake her up right now, okay?”

Theodore sensed something was wrong and pressed further, his frown deepening, “Seriously, what’s going on with Teresa?”

Wendy realized she couldn’t stall them any longer, so she decided to share a partial truth–hoping it would be enough to keep the real story hidden.

She explained, “Theo, when Teresa decided on the divorce, she ended her second pregnancy. They did a D&C, but didn’t clear out everything, and she started hemorrhaging badly–so she had to be rushed to the hospital.”
