Chapter 231

Teresa spotted Roselyn coming in and abandoned her escape plan.

Roselyn swaggered over with a small box and tossed it onto the bedside table without a hint of politeness. “Charles was afraid you’d starve to death all alone, so he made me come check on you,” she said with a scowl.

Teresa’s face turned cold. ‘I don’t need your phony sympathy,‘ she snapped.

Roselyn sneered. “You think I wanted to come? I could be at home watching TV, tending my garden, or feeding my fish. Any of that would be a hell of a lot better than visiting you–a stray dog nobody wants.”

Teresa chuckled at Roselyn’s words. “Then get out,” she said.

Roselyn’s face twisted with rage. “Wow, Teresa, you’ve really grown bold, huh? You think you can talk back to me like that? Do you actually believe you belong with the likes of the Logan family?”

She sneered, “Maybe you should take a long, hard look in the mirror. Do you see even a hint of a real lady in yourself? Honestly, it’s a miracle you managed to snag Charles–your ancestors must be throwing a party in their graves for you.”

Teresa let out an even colder, more mocking laugh, but she didn’t bother to say a word–‘Not worth my breath,‘ she thought.

Roselyn saw her attitude and snapped, “Not even going to show me a little respect, huh? You really think you can treat me like your personal punching bag? Let’s see if I don’t teach you a lesson.”

Roselyn rolled up her sleeves, making it clear she was ready to get physical.

At this moment, Teresa didn’t feel so afraid–she had Troy by her side.

This wasn’t like that night, when she’d had no one to turn to.

Just as Roselyn raised her hand, the bathroom door swung open. Troy, dressed in gray pajamas, leaned against the doorframenot taking a single step closer to the bed, but his voice rang out, steady and full of warning. “Go ahead and touch hersee what happens.”

Roselyn spun around, pausing as she saw Troy standing there. Uncertainty flickered across her face, “Troy?”

Troy glanced up, still gliding the electric razor over his jaw and idly rubbing his chin stubble.

He shot Roselyn a lazy smile. “Hey, long time no see!

Roselyn scowled, looking genuinely grossed out. “Don’t flatter yourself. Spare me the reunion act.

Troy chuckled, a teasing edge to his voice. “Yep, still as proud as ever.”

The Logan family and Hamilton families had always been rivals in business. It wasn’t just Charles and Troy who couldn’t stand each other–their whole families were basically at war.

Roselyn lifted her chin proudly, her eyes shining with smug satisfaction. “Come on, do you even know who my son is? Of course I have every reason to hold my head high.”

Troy gave a cold, dismissive laugh. “Charles? That bastard? How does he turn into some bigshot just because you say so?”

Roselyn snorted with derision. “Maybe check yourself in the mirror before you start running your mouth about anyone else.”

Troy arched an eyebrow, grinning shamelessly. “What? You mean my dashing good looks and all the gorgeous women around me?”

Roselyn spat on the floor, sneering, “You’re really something else–shameless as ever.”

Troy raised his hands in mock surrender, looking utterly unconcerned. But his dazzling smile faded in an instant, replaced by an icy glare. “So, are you done here? Time to leave.”

Roselyn let out a mocking laugh, her eyes flashing. “Oh? And what makes you think you’re allowed to stay?

Troy repeated her words, drawing out the syllables with a teasing lilt. “Allowed to stay, huh? What gives me that privilege?”

After thinking for a moment, Troy glanced over at Teresa, his gaze lingering with hidden meaning. “You want to know why? Maybe you should ask Teresa herself”

Roselyn whipped around to Teresa, her voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper. “Just tell me what does Troy mean by that?”

That line dropped like a grenade. Roselyn’s jaw nearly hit the floor, and even Troy, who’d been watching the drama, was momentarily speechless.

Troy stood a short distance away, completely relaxed. He spoke up, his voice steady. “You might want to think twice before you do anything. If I’m herlover, then she’s my whole world. Lay a finger on her and you’ll be dealing with me–and trust me, can the Logan family really afford the consequences?

Teresa, already exhausted by it all, shot right back, “And if I do? If I don’t? What does it matter either way?”

Roselyn’s face went red with rage. She jabbed a finger at Teresa, practically spitting the words out. “You’re unbelievable–getting mixed up with someone like Troy! Have you no shame at all?

Teresa didn’t blink. She lifted her chin and stared Roselyn down. “So what? What are you planning to do about it?”

Roselyn was so furious she was practically shaking. “Divorce! You’re getting divorced, and you’re walking away with absolutely nothing- not even a penny from Charles!”

She thought the word “divorcewould scare Teresa, but Teresa just laughed instead, looking her dead in the eye. “Honestly? Thank you for doing me this favor.

Roselyn was even more furious. “You-

But before she could finish, Troy stepped forward, towering beside her, his figure casting a long shadow that swallowed her up. He asked, “So, are you done here? Can you leave now?”

Roselyn didn’t even look at Troy, but she could still feel his overwhelming presence radiating from behind her.

In the vast city of Riverdale, the Logan family certainly held a lot of power, but the Hamiltons were just as formidable.

The two houses were locked in rivalry, tangled together with neither side able to best the other.

In the end, Roselyn could only grit her teeth and leave.

Once Roselyn left, Troy grabbed the small box from the nightstand and popped it open. Inside was a sad excuse for porridge–just a watery mess with some rice floating around, basically just rice–flavored water.

Troy took one look at it, snorted, and just chucked the whole thing straight into the trash.

A moment later, his phone buzzed–it was his assistant calling.

Troy stepped out into the hallway to wait. In no time, his assistant arrived, carrying a breakfast that looked like it belonged on an executive suite menu.

Back in the room, Troy opened up the container.

The spread was impressive–porridge, assorted sides, eggs, and even a couple of wraps.

Teresa was still injured, and eating wasn’t exactly easy for her, so Troy said, “Let me feed you.”

He dipped the spoon into the porridge, gently offering her the first bite. After she swallowed, he met her eyes, his tone suddenly serious. “End the pregnancy. Leave Riverdale with me. I’ll take you somewhere you can finally have the kind of quiet life you’ve always dreamed

of.”

He’d never forgotten what she said before–that all she wanted was a simple, peaceful life.
