Talking about the details of that night was just like ripping open a wound that still hadn’t healed and then rubbing salt into it.
Peyton was a lawyer; he’d heard countless complicated stories and met every type of client there was.
His heart ached for what Wendy had gone through, but it was in the past–there was nothing anyone could change about it now.
After really listening to Wendy, Peyton spoke softly, “You should call the police. I’ll be there with you as your lawyer every step of the way.”
Wendy nodded. “Okay.”
For the past couple of days, Teresa and Leo had been sticking by her side, never leaving her alone.
Wendy told herself, ‘I have to toughen up. I can’t let Teresa and Leo–those who truly care about me–worry.
So she steeled herself and made up her mind: she was going to call the police.
Once Peyton finished speaking, she took out her phone and powered it on.
Ever since the incident, she hadn’t dared to look at her phone.
But now, she summoned up all her courage and decided it was time to start fresh.
As soon as her phone powered on, notifications exploded–likes and comments flooded in on her videos, news alerts kept popping up. and trending topics on Twitter appeared one after another.
Among all those notifications, there were also text messages from George.
Wendy clicked on them almost automatically. The first thing she saw was George frantically apologizing: [Wendy, I’m so sorry. Please forgive me. I just lost my head that night–that’s the only reason I did what I did. But we’ve been together for years, and things like this have happened before, right? Please don’t be mad at me, okay?]
[Wendy, why won’t you answer me? Please, just don’t tell anyone what happened tonight, okay?]
and I swear you’ll be the only woman in
[I’m really sorry, I know I was wrong. Please forgive me. I promise it will never happen again, a my life from now on.]
[Wendy? Can you just reply to me?]
[Wendy, stop pretending like you’re some kind of victim. I’ve seen everything there is to see about you, played with you inside and out. Who do you think you’re fooling with that pathetic act?]
[Seriously, after dumping me, do you really think any guy would even want you?]
[What, you dead or something? Cat got your tongue?]
[Listen up–don’t even think about going to the cops. If you do, I’ll blast our sex video to your parents, your sister, and everyone you know. I’ll make sure they all see how their precious, oh–so–sweet Wendy really acts in bed.]
With that last message, George even attached a short video.
Wendy didn’t need to click it–she already knew exactly what it was.
She couldn’t bring herself to open it. Her hand tremlded harder and harder as she gripped her phone.
Teresa noticed something was off and quickly stepped over, gently steadying Wendy “What’s wrong?” she asked, worry etched in her
voice
Wendy slowly stood up, letting most of her weight rest against Teresa. Her voice was raspy as she whispered, “Teresa. I–Frant doll Im not calling the police anymore.”

Peyton immediately noticed something was wrong and called out, “Miss Stone, are you really just going to let the person who bullied you walk free like nothing happened?”
Wendy shouted back, her voice on the verge of breaking down, “No one bullied me! No one! No one!”
After yelling, she trudged slowly back to her room, each step heavy.
Peyton pressed on, not letting it go. “Miss Stone, if he’s threatening you, that means his offense is even more serious.”
Wendy shook her head, tears streaming down her cheeks as she choked out, “I’m not calling the police. I’m not.”
With those words, she dragged herself into her room, not looking back.
Teresa crouched down beside her, gave her shoulder a comforting squeeze, and asked softly, “What’s wrong?”
Teresa was stunned speechless.
Wendy’s parents cared a lot about their reputation. If those videos leaked, they’d scold Wendy instead of supporting her.
But in her parents‘ eyes, no matter how much she made or how many fancy gifts she bought, her career as a content creator would never be considered a real, respectable job.
Leo’s concern deepened. “And her? Is de holding uphi

Troy stood off to the side, never taking his eyes off Teresa. Seeing the exhaustion etched on her face, he couldn’t help but think, ‘Damn, I hate seeing her like this.‘
After hesitating for a moment, Troy finally walked over and said softly. “Teresa, would you come with me to the hospital for a bit?”
Teresa furrowed her brows, caught off guard. “Huh? What do
you mean?”
Troy met her gaze. “I want you to come with me to see my mom.”
Teresa felt a little out of sorts, but she was honest. “I can’t. I need to stay here for Wendy.”
Seeing her refusal, Troy immediately grabbed her hand and said, “Leo and Peyton are both here. With them around, Wendy’s safe. She’ll be okay.”
Even so, Teresa instinctively resisted, shaking her head. “I’m not going, Troy.”
Troy didn’t give Teresa a chance to hesitate–he just grabbed her without warning and pulled her over.
As he led her outside, he said, “My mom wants to meet you.”
Teresa froze for a moment. “I…”
She didn’t even get the chance to say no before Troy was already dragging her out of Wendy’s house.
