When She Walks Away (Teresa) novel Chapter 46

Chapter 46

Teresa wanted to say something else, but Hector cut her off. “Teresa, how about keeping me company and watching the stars for a while? Once we’re back in Riverdale, we won’t get to see scenery like this anymore.”

With Hector making such a request, Teresa couldn’t bring herself to say more.

She tilted her face up to the sky, her heart weighed down with worries.

After all, all of Hector’s troubles had started because of her, and she still wanted to help him solve this problem.

He’d worked so hard to get to where he was, and if it was all ruined just because of a single word from Charles, it really wouldn’t be worth it.

By the time Teresa got back to the hospital’s temporary dorm, it was already ten o’clock at night.

After she finished washing up, Teresa lay down on the narrow bed and scrolled through some videos on her phone.

But with everything weighing on her mind, she just couldn’t relax.

After turning it over in her mind, Teresa realized there was only one way to fix Hector’s mess; she’d have to beg Charles for help.

‘But why should I have to?‘ Teresa thought. ‘It’s not like Hector or I did anything wrong.

Since that wasn’t really an option, Teresa started thinking of a

mp play.

‘If begging Charles is out of the question, maybe I could turn to his biggest rival instead, Teresa wondered.

In a city as big as Riverdale, Troy Hamilton was the only one who could help. But if she went to Troy, it might just bring even more trouble.

After thinking it over carefully, Teresa decided that asking Troy seemed more reliable.

Sitting up in bed, she dialed his number. To her surprise, Troy picked up almost immediately.

“Hey, baby. Miss me?” Troy’s teasing voice came through the phone. His lazy drawl mixed with the deep timbre of his voice, and in the background, noisy music thumped away.

Everyone knew Troy was notorious for not caring about anything. Rumor had it women flocked to him, and he changed girlfriends as often as he changed his clothes.

He always put on a show of deep affection for any woman he met. His eyes looked at every woman as if he were in love with her.

He’d even relentlessly flirted with Teresa, once boldly claiming that if she didn’t marry Charles, he’d marry her himself.

But Teresa never took jokes like that seriously. She never bought a word Troy said.

Teresa was already used to Troy’s laid–back attitude, so she got straight to the point, her tone serious. “I need to talk to you.

you.The music on Troy’s end dropped way down. He teased, “So, you finally came around? Figured out I’m the one who’ll treat you right?Teresa said, “Troy, I’ve always thought of you as a friend.”

No matter what kind of drama was going on between Charles and Troy, Teresa had never gotten mixed up in their beef. She’d never forgotten how Troy had helped her out before.

And it wasn’t just a one–time thing, he’d helped her out more than once.

Troy exhaled, his voice smooth as ever through the phone. “So, you need me to do something for you?”

Teresa was taken aback. “H–How did you know?”

She hadry I even said a word, and Troy had already guessed what she wanted

Troy smiled, and for once his tone turned serious. I can help you, but I don’t want anything except you

Teresa replied, “I’m not really free today. Let’s do it another time.”

Troy said, “I’m in town.”

Teresa was confused. “What?”

Troy patiently explained, “I mean, I’m in the same town as you.”

Teresa hesitated for a moment, then finally agreed. “Okay.”

‘If I want to help Hector, this is the only way,’ Teresa thought to herself.

She changed into a long–sleeved shirt and pants before heading out of the hospital dorm.

As soon as Teresa stepped outside, she spotted a sleek black luxury car parked by the curb.

Troy was leaning casually against the car, fiddling with his expensive watch. He stood there in the night, blending into the darkness of the small town.

Teresa walked over and softly called out, “Hi, Mr. Hamilton.”

At the sound of her voice, Troy looked up and checked her out from head to toe, then spread his arms wide and strode toward her.

Before Teresa could react, he grabbed her and pulled her firmly into his arms.

“It’s been a while. Miss me?Troy said, his chin resting on top of her head, a big grin on his face.

Not far away, a guy dressed in black was lurking in the corner, filming the whole thing on his phone. When he was done, he quietly sent the video off to Jason.
