When She Walks Away (Teresa) novel Chapter 50

Chapter 50

After leaving the Sullivan Mansion, Charles slid into his Rolls Royce. He rested his hand on the windowsill, the night breeze still muggy with lingering heat. Lighting a cigarette, he took a slow drag.

As smoke curled around him, his eyes narrowed with a dangerous glint. Thinking of the video Jason had shown him, he suddenly stubbed out his cigarette.

Charles pulled out his phone and called Teresa again. It rang and rang, but she still didn’t answer.

Charles was running out of patience. But then, he suddenly remembered that the video had been shown to him by Jason. So, he called Jason again.

“Charles, what’s up?” Jason answered almost instantly, loud music thumping in the background.

“Where are you?” Charles asked.

Once Jason shot him the address, Charles replied, “Okay, I’m heading over right now.”

It was half an hour later when Charles arrived at the address Jason had given him.

Charles didn’t come alone; Finn was with him.

When the two of them pushed open the door to the private room and walked in, both their faces looked grim.

Jason got up to greet them. “Hi, Charles, Finn.”

Charles shot a look at the people around Jason and said, “Clear the room.”

Jason looked puzzled for a moment, but didn’t press. He just assumed Charles had something important to discuss.

As the last person reached the door, Charles called out, “Close it behind you.

He was calm, almost unnaturally so, and it put Jason on edge. As the door clicked shut, Charles sat down next to Jason.

Jason followed suit. “What’s with the cloak–and–dagger act? What’s going on?

He looked at Charles, then at Finn, but both of them wore blank expressionsnot like their usual selves.

Finn didn’t sit down. Instead, he stood across the coffee table, fixing Jason with a sharp look. “Charles has been looking for Teresa all day and can’t find her. Do you know where she is?

Jason looked a bit flustered when he realized they were asking about Teresa. He leaned back into the sofa and answered, sounding a bit guilty, “I–I have no idea where she went.”

Finn said, his expression cold, You better not.”

Jason shot Finn a puzzled look and asked, “What’s going on?

Finn glanced at Charles, who was sitting silently beside him, then turned back to Jason. Yolanda misses her mom, She’s craving her moin’s cooking. Charles has been searching for Teresa all day; he’s going out of his mind.”

Jason felt uneasy, his brow furrowing as he looked at Charles. Charles met his gaze.

They stared each other down, Charles’s eyes cold as ice. Jason shrank back under the chill of his gaze, stammering, YYou didn’t call her?

Instead of answering, Charles fixed Jason with a steely stare and demanded. Where did that video come from?”

Charles’s voice was calm, but Jason’s heart raced. He bowed in from of Charles, head bowed. “I did it. I asked Mr. Evans to send her to the town.

But Charles, I did it for you. I just couldn’t stand seeing her getting so close to another man bebusd your back

Charles’s expression remained neutral. “Which town is she in

Charles barked, “Call him.”

Jason pulled out his phone, hands trembling as he called Paul.

Once he got the address, Charles stood up without another word and headed for the door.

Jason, looking worried, stood up and hurried after him. “Charles, I’m coming with you.”

After work, Teresa made her way down to a little creek. It was already autumn, but the heat still lingered in the air.

She thought that wading in the cool water might help her feel a bit better.

The creek was crystal clear, with tiny fish darting about. She caught a few just for fun, letting herself relax and unwind.

Charles had called her several times that day, but she really didn’t feel like picking up. At first, she kept rejecting his calls, and later, she just muted her phone altogether.

Not seeing his name pop up made her feel a whole lot more at ease.

She was in the middle of playing in the water when Hector showed up.

Teresa hurried over, worried. “Are you okay?”

“Come on, let’s go to the hospital. I’ll patch you up,” Teresa said.

Both of them were doctors, so they knew a cut like this could turn into a big deal if it wasn’t treated properly. Getting a tetanus shot was

After getting his wound treated at the hospital, Teresa told Hector to head over to her place first; she’d whip up something for him to eat.

The town was small, and it was hard to find any food that actually suited her taste.

If she wanted to eat something decent, she had no choice but to cook it herself.

Of course, Hector didn’t refuse; he just followed along.

After they finished eating, Hector said he felt a bit sticky and wanted to take a shower. Teresa just nodded and told him, “Go ahead.

He hadn’t been in the bathroom long when someone knocked on the door.

Teresa figured it was probably one of her neighbors. She’d been in the town for ten days now, and the neighbors were super friendly: they often dropped off fresh vegetables for her.

Without even asking who it was, she went to open the door. But when she saw who was standing there, the warm smile on her face vanished in an instant.

“Charles? Teresa blurted out, her voice puzzled. There was no trace of happiness or sadness–just pure surprise, clear as day.

Jasoni saw what was going on and immediately turned to Teresa, his voice full of anger. “Wow, so this is what you ve been doing out here?

We send you to the town for work, and you rad up attacking up with your lover Teresa, you’re really something I never realized you were this kind of person

Teresa didn’t bother to explain herself. She just kept her eyes fixed on Charles and asked, “And you? Is that what you think, too?”

Charles spotted Hector as well, and his face grew even colder and more distant.

On the way over, Charles couldn’t help but reflect on how he’d treated Teresa, thinking he really shouldn’t have done that to her.

But he hadn’t expected her to be living so much more comfortably than he’d imagined.

Charles stayed silent for a long time, and Teresa raised her voice at him, “Say something.”

Only then did Charles finally speak. “It’s all right here in front of me. Do you still want to explain yourself?”

Teresa laughed, but her eyes were shimmering with tears.

After Charles spoke, Jason immediately chimed in, “You and Hector have been hooking up since Riverdale. Even if you try to explain, do you really think anyone would believe you?”

Teresa finally turned to Jason, her voice cool. “If your heart’s twisted, then everything you see looks twisted, too. You guys have already made up your minds about me, so what’s the point in explaining anything?”

Jason was pissed off by Teresa’s unapologetic attitude. Not wanting to argue with a woman, he walked straight into the room and went right up to Hector.

“You’ve really got some guts, huh? You actually dare to touch Charles’s woman,” Jason sneered.

He stepped in even closer, his voice cold. “Are you looking to die?”

Hector just shrugged it off with a grin, about to say something, but Teresa stepped in front of him, putting herself between them.

“Jason, if you’ve got a problem, take it up with me, Teresa said firmly.

Jason let out a low, mocking laugh. “You sure are protective of him. Have you forgotten whose woman you are?”

Teresa just found it even more ridiculous. She looked up at Jason and said, “Why don’t you ask Charles if he even remembers he’s got a wife?

Jason was left speechless. “T–That’s not the same at all,”
