Chapter 74
Teresa stood facing George, completely unaware that Charles and Jason had just stepped out of the private room behind her. She didn’t notice the two men at all.
George, too, was oblivious to their presence. He pulled Teresa into his arms, his eyes scanning her with blatant flirtation.
Despite his dislike for her, he couldn’t deny that she had an incredible figure. Now, in that tight dress, her curves on full display, he couldn’t help but feel a slight attraction.
George grabbed Teresa’s hand tight, and when she tried to pull away, he just gripped her even harder. Still, Teresa yanked back with all her strength, not caring if she hurt herself.
George wasn’t really using all his strength, so when Teresa gave it everything she had, she actually managed to break free.
But as she broke free, she stumbled backward from the momentum, not even having time to worry about falling before someone caught her. Strong arms wrapped around her, stopping her from tumbling any further.
When she straightened up, Teresa nodded slightly and said, “Thanks.” But when she looked up, she found herself face-to- face with Charles.
His features were sharp, with a chiseled jawline, and his eyes held an unreadable expression. He looked down at her, his brow slightly furrowed, probably wondering why she was here.
Teresa even wondered if he thought she was stalking him. After all, it wouldn’t be the first time she had done something like that, and she felt a bit embarrassed.
Meanwhile, Jason stood off to the side, looking angry. He clearly wanted to say something, but before he could, Wendy came
over.
“George, Teresa, you’re here,” Wendy called out as she walked over. She stood next to George and linked her arm through his.
Wendy noticed something was off with George. As she glanced at Teresa, she spotted Charles nearby.
Although she wasn’t sure what had happened, Wendy immediately sensed that there had been some conflict between Teresa and George.
But with Charles there, Wendy didn’t press for details. Instead, she leaned in and said softly to George, “George, let’s step outside for a bit.”
George felt uneasy, worried Teresa might spill something to Wendy. Not wanting any drama, he just nodded and said, “Alright.”
After they left, Teresa figured it was time for her to leave as well.
But before she could take another step, Jason shot her a mocking look and said, “Teresa, you really can’t keep your hands off guys, huh?”
Teresa stopped and turned back, her lips curling into a sarcastic smile. “Seriously, what are you trying to get at?”
Jason didn’t mince words. “You are such a slut.”
The insult didn’t faze Teresa at all. Instead, she was more focused on Charles’s reaction. But he didn’t even look up, too busy typing away on his phone, completely ignoring Jason.

Teresa could bet it was Naomi he was texting.
Clearly, Charles didn’t care about Jason’s insults. In his mind, any of his friends could walk all over Teresa. Unlike Naomi, who was treated with respect, thinking about it only made Teresa feel a sense of self-mockery.
But faced with their insults and mockery, Teresa wasn’t about to let it slide. She shot back, her voice dripping with sarcasm, “Mr. Gould, you call me a slut, but are you really any better?”
Jason stretched out his words, smirking, “Oh, please. I’m nothing like you-I don’t mess around with a bunch of people at
once.”
Teresa just gave a faint, dismissive smile. “Look who’s talking.”
She threw Jason a scornful glance, then looked over at Charles, who was still busy texting. Something stung inside her, and she let out a bitter laugh before turning away and walking off.
As Teresa stepped out of the restaurant, she heard someone call out, “Teresa!”
She turned and saw Wendy standing under a tree. “You haven’t left yet?” Teresa asked.
“I was waiting for you,” Wendy said.
Teresa walked over, her expression calm. “If you’ve got something to say, just say it.”
Wendy could sense Teresa’s coldness, but she kept going. “I just talked to George. He said you saw him adding a girl on WhatsApp, but Teresa, he was just adding her.
“It doesn’t mean he’s actually going to do anything. You can’t just hit him like that in public. He’s a man, he cares about his reputation. You…”
Teresa cut her off, her voice sharp. “So, what, I’m the bad guy here?”
Wendy quickly tried to explain, “Teresa, that’s not what I meant. I know you’re just looking out for me, but he’s my future husband, and you’re my best friend. I don’t want you two to misunderstand each other.”
Hearing Wendy still defending George, Teresa felt a surge of anger. She didn’t hold back. “If he really wanted to marry you, he wouldn’t make you wait this long. You know how many years you’ve been waiting.”
Wendy lowered her head, her voice barely above a whisper. “He will, Teresa. He’ll marry me.”
Teresa cut in, not wanting to hear any more. “So, how are you getting home?”
“I’ll just grab a cab,” Wendy replied.
“What about George? Isn’t he going with you?” Teresa asked.
Wendy paused, then said, “I already told him to go ahead without me.” Wendy had told George to leave first, just so Teresa and George wouldn’t end up fighting again.
Teresa didn’t ask why. She simply said, “Let me take you home.”
In the car, Wendy kept reminiscing about the old days, and Teresa’s eyes grew misty with emotion. Even though she got what Wendy meant, Teresa still couldn’t see George any differently.
Before long, Wendy hopped out, and Teresa watched her head into the building before driving off.

But just then, someone tapped on her window. Teresa turned, and to her surprise, it was Hector standing there.
She rolled down the window, her brows furrowed in confusion. “Hector, what are you doing here?”
Hector was dressed casually, leaning down to look at her. His face was partly hidden in the shadows, but it only made him look more striking.
He smiled at her. “I was about to ask you the same thing. What are you doing here?”
Teresa said, “Just gave a friend a ride home.”
Hector nodded and grinned, “Since we’re both here, wanna grab some late-night cats?”
Teresa laughed. “Sounds good.”
With her car right there, Teresa let Hector ride shotgun.
They drove to a popular snack shop. Before sitting down, Hector wiped down the chairs and table with a wet wipe, showing great consideration.
Teresa smiled at him. “Hector, seriously, you don’t have to do all that.”
Hector just gave her a quiet smile and kept at it, making sure every spot Teresa might touch was spotless.
Just as Hector sat down, he spotted a few people walking in. It was Charles, Jason, Finn, and Naomi. They picked a spot and sat down.
Jason noticed Teresa first and nudged Charles, signaling him to look her way.
When Charles glanced over, Teresa was already looking at him. Their eyes met for a brief moment before both quickly looked away.
Seeing them, Teresa felt a bit irritated, but all she wanted was to enjoy a quiet meal with Hector.
After ordering, as they were waiting for the food, Jason suddenly stood up and walked over.
